Air Bag Light Reset Help NJ/NY

Hey guys, I had to replace my clockspring and now i have the airbag message on startup. I need to have the warning turned off. I know that the dealership will do it but i would like to avoid that if possible. I have a couple questions.

1. I have a general mechanic shop next door to my job, would he possibly have the correct scanner or tools to turn this off?

2. Is there someone in the general vicinity of me that would like to meet up with me and turn it off for me? Im in North Jersey and would gladly throw you some money for your time.

3. How much does the dealership charge for this if i were to go to them?

Your cheapest option is to use VZ Clustermod. It has an airbag reset function and the software overall is intuitive. You can either buy or make a USB to OBDII cable for well under $20 and the program is free.

The software is a command line interface with basic command strings you use execute tasks. All of the commands are well documented and easy to use. Fire up the Google and check out the website.

It realistically takes all of 10 minutes to figure it out and their website has step by step instructions to do it all. Without the website for reference it would be a whole different story! Plus if you so choose you can turn on your shift light and change the startup logo as well while you're in there. Its a cool program.

I have the cable and software as well and i'm in northern nj, by ramsey.

I'd have to find the cable and remember how to do it, but it's certainly possible.
