Hey Slow,

42 miles ... or 42,000 miles?

So, you're not an original owner...
It's not even from your own family, it's from a friend. Guess I better post about how I bought mine from the original owner, so I'm the original owner.

My dad was the original owner of mine. I bought it about 5-6 years ago after he basically quit driving it bc of how ugly it had gotten after the clear "bug/paint" protector turned black. I scrubbed and scrubbed to get that off and it ended up taking the clear coat with it. I fell in love when the car, as a 15 year old would, when he bought it and new it would be mine one day. I still love the damn thing even though it has been nothing but a headache lately. It's really been on my mind to sell it lately just bc of the hassle it has been and I'll have to sink a lot more money into it to get it back to reliable and looking good. Tough decision, but I wonte believe I can go through with selling it until it actually happens. I bought it with around 60k miles and have loved putting another 65k miles on it.

Bought mine new in July of 2005 and have driven it since then as my daily driver ... 198,850 miles on it ... just had the engine and trans rebuilt and converted to E85 with a new pump and I am still driving it every day ... at least until the kids are out of college.

Bought my 04 brand new on December 31, 2004. First brand new car I have ever bought. Once I made the decision that I was buying one, it took a few months to find the right one. Almost flew to Texas for a black on black 6 speed, missed out on a Pulse red one and then got very lucky to find my Quicksilver 04 6 speed, within 2 hours of the house to boot. 9876 original miles, only mods are in my sig. It was never meant to be a daily driver for me and it never will be. I was lucky enough to be able to buy it brand new and am still lucky to have it today.

04 IBM gto with 92k. Built in May 04. Bought 9/30/04 without knowing how to drive an M6. Now (but wasnt always) a daily driver but I dont drive a ton because I work from home mostly. If i ever buy a house with a 2 car garage, I'll restore what the sun and weather have done to the leather and exterior.

I bought my GTO in October of 2004. Sold it in September of 2016 when I ordered the C7. Literally had nowhere to put the GTO so it had to go. Guy at the dealer bought it. He recently put it up for sale (he put less than 2,000 miles on it). Unfortunately, he's asking dumb money for it. Otherwise, I'd buy it back and find somewhere to store it.

I was fortunate enough to have enough garage space to keep my GTO when I bought my C7.

Original owner of a PBM 2006 Auto. Bought it off the showroom floor in June 2006. The dealership had the factory Australian sunroof installed so its a bit unique. Around 47K will start using it more in the coming weeks.

Mine is no longer 4 sale. Decided to keep it and do some work to her. The family and I decided this is our legacy and we just can't get rid of it. We got her 3 months after my first son was born so She's family too.

Not an original owner, but same boat as you in this regard. The wife and I recently decided the same. We planned to sell it and knock out some of her loans from her doctorate. I was looking at an SN95 project (the only Mustang body style I like, grandpa had a 95 Cobra that I loved). I figured they're cheap to buy and cheap to mod, so it could give me that project/muscle car fix I need.

The wife vetoed this saying "no you hate Mustangs. You love cars that are harder to come by." She knows me well.

So we looked at C5's, G8's, and then realized... we would spend more on one of those than we would sell the GTO for. We decided the GTO will get some much needed love for far less than the cost of a newer toy, and it has sentimental value.

Picked mine up new in June 2006. PBM , 6 speed, 18 inch wheel option and the red leather. 36,033 miles and staying there for awhile since my dumb ass can't drive it anymore until my broken tibia heals.

Good thread.
Not original owner but bought mine with 2000 miles, now has 41k
The original owner bought it in California drove it 2 months then passed away at the age of 52.
It sat in a garage for 6 years until I bought it in 2012.
The son said his dad LOVED this car, which is why he didn't sell it right away.
Don't ask me why but I think of that a lot … sentimental I guess. I am 61

I actually have a clause in my will that prohibits the sale of mine. It goes to one of my sons and he wouldn't want to sell it anyway. I'm 72.

Inherited mine from my father who purchased it new in May of 06. He passed away in 2012 and I have spent the last 7 years doing some very extensive modifications. Car still has only 640 original miles on it. I just posted a few pics in the photo gallery (new album).
Cheers.

Yep, same here. Bought my 2006 BOM with 4016 miles in May 2007 from a guy who had just gotten a divorce. It's been garage kept ever since. It's currently sitting at 27,777 miles on the odometer today.
