Maybe what I consider close to the strut and what is in reality close are very different.
I'm literally like a few mm away, but as long as it doesn't touch it's ok. I've been driving like this for thousands of miles and no problem.

Are yours rubbing on the top from the lip that hangs over the tire, or are they rubbing on the inside edge towards the actual strut?

That should tell you whether they're too wide or too tall.

They aren't rubbing the strut in either place just very close to the inside edge. Specs from Toyo's website 26" overall diameter, 9.6 section width which doesn't sound big so I really think it's the shoulder and tread design of the tire.

The only rub I've had was at the fender lip itself and rolling + adding some negative camber last night seems to have fixed that. I really thought adjusting the camber was going to put it in the strut but it just got really close.

Here is a preroll pic that shows the rub.. This was just from an around the block trip

No OEM struts with 245/45/17 tires.
Are these the OEM BFG's? I see they are the stock size. Do you have new strut tops out of poly or some thing? 9mm closer to the strut is alot, well in relation to GTO tire/strut clearance. what kind of camber? my 8.5's +35 with 235/35 would just rub under super aggresive driving, I did however have stock camber at max. And while drifting have "unrolled" the whole lip, very expensive, and ugly mistake.

@op can you post pics of your rolled front fender? My "unrolled" passenger fender has been beaten back into submission, and now looks okish, but is now rolled flat, and has a little flare too it. it still needs repainted too.

Your camber must have been way off then, as I was lowered on BC coils before with 9" wheels up front +45 offset that stick out just as far as yours and my fenders only rubbed when I hit huge bumps or something. But otherwise the camber helped keep them off the fenders while driving normally

No, they are some Hankooks which I know run narrower than BFGs. I do have new poly strut mounts with OEM Monroes and -0.1* camber now.

Sure i'll get some pics when I roll the passenger side..

I wish I could find my alignment sheet, i'm going to keep searching for it. It looks WAY better with some negative camber and the tires fit the wheel better IMO..

I'm putting 19's on my car, 8.5" wide with a 35mm offset (Petrol's). I have Eibach lowering springs but I think they are only 3/4"1" drop. I wonder if I will be in the same situation..
I'm running 245-40-18's, 8.5 wide wheel on a +35 and barely needed to do the fronts. The offset also clears the strut nicely. The rears on a +45 9.5" wide wheel with the 265-35-18 S02's had to roll the lip almost all the way.

New +35,40 Falkens ordered

Wow, after reading all of this I'm a bit nervous having ordered new wheels due in next week. I have both front/rear fenders rolled and hope the 40r 35front offset on the wheels works out OK. I already knew I was taking a chance doing this. I have TSW Thruxtons with the proper 45 rear 40 front and had no issues, the extra 5 mm could represent an issue. I went with 275 rear and the stock 235 front, the new Falken RT-6 wheels look so incredible I had to go for it. Forgot to add I have the Lovells 20mm drop all around. Fingers xxx'd
