    Parts for sale
How about a price on just the plastic hoses from your "misc parts" post, shipped to 93063? Email response is best, as I'm not on here as often. - cole.balster @ gmail . com Thanks!
  2. Idk what to do 911! 05 gto ls2

    Tech Lounge
What does the oil look like? Was it low. does it have "chunks" in it when you drain it, etc.? If you started it and it ran but made a horrible noise, I'd say your trans isn't locked up. Sorry to say, but it sounds more like a bottom end problem to me. Good luck.
  3. LS7 heads and cam, possibilities?

    Tech Lounge
I got a similar deal. A friend had a pair of LSX-454 6 bolt heads (LS7 as-cast), the LSX-454 cam (236/246 with .648"/.648" lift on a 110+1 LSA) and I already had a set of LS7 Titanium valves and rockers from a past project and added a CHE trunion kit. I picked up a stock LS7 Intake, Fuel Rail...
  4. whats with LS2 engine tick

    LS1/LS2 Engine Tech
Well, a 0w40 or 0w50 is thicker than 5w30 or 10w30, at elevated temperatures. Also, the rating on the bottle is not the "true thickness" of the oil. The centistokes (cSt) number is what you are going to want to pay attention to. The weight of the oil needs to be matched for the bearing...
  5. Ca smog and stock tune

    Tech Lounge
I know of a 2005 (not mine of course) with a 6.2, LS7 heads, LS7 intake, big nasty cam with 21 degrees of overlap, long tubes, cats and REALLY loud exhaust that passed without issue. This was also at one of the "Star Approved" stations, but he has been taking all of his cars there for the past...
  6. California Smog Tests

    South Western
Turn off the codes in the tune. Use your tuner of choice or learn yourself with one of the softwares available on the market. I believe all the "ECM Emission Tests" need to report as "ready", with the exception of EVAP which does not have to report. My car passed last August (see mods in my...

I'm not far from you. What all do you still have for the car? I might be interested in the complete rear suspension to use for measureing and making new control arms and a brake kit. Thanks, Cole - (8O5)368-8699 text OK
  8. LS2 vs. LS3

    LS1/LS2 Engine Tech
I got a L92 shortblock off Craigslist for $500 that needed rebuilt. I only used the block and crank. I put JE/SRP 4.070" pistons in it with stock LS2 rods and the stock crank, new cam, crank and rod bearings. I also bought a new GM 24x reluctor wheel and replaced in myself in the garage. It's...
  9. Battery terminal alternative

    Tech Lounge
Funny, I did the same thing last year. Except my research lead me to a Toyota part that I also sourced from Amazon for the same $10 price.
  10. LS3 + LSA Blower Complete Build

    Forced Induction
Thanks for your time dedicated to this build and sharing of pics/details. I wanted a Mavman hood for awhile and an LSA, now it's time to start collecting parts.
  11. Patriot Performance Xtreme .660" Dual Spring Kit

    LS1/LS2 Engine Tech
Factory LS6 springs are more than enough with a stock cam. GM Part number 12499224 from one of the sources below or your favorite local GM dealer. If they don't have them in stock, they should be able to get them the next day. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-12499224...
  12. Bad Cam Lobe Surprise!

    LS1/LS2 Engine Tech
Same thing happened to my bone stock '08 Avalanche. It was one of the "normal" lifters, not the DOD crap. Case hardened layer on the cam lobe wore out and once the smallest of "soft areas" is exposed, it will continue to grow until failure of the lifter or enough metal gets in the oil. I'd say...
  13. '05 with LT's and needing quiet-ish mufflers

    Exhaust
Thanks again guys. I've decided to to find some stock mufflers (that aren't apparently made of gold). I'm also going to build my own exhaust using a 3" X-Pipe that I already have and some stainless mandrel bends. I have some very talented friends that are top-notch fabricators for a VERY well...
  14. '05 with LT's and needing quiet-ish mufflers

    Exhaust
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I'll start with some stock mufflers and see where it gets me. If that's too quiet, then I'll consider the Magnaflows. As far as moving, probably not going to happen. While I'm not against it and have even considered moving to the Charlotte, NC area, I...
  15. O2 Removal Advice

    Exhaust
Definitely get an O2 sensor socket from the parts store or Harbor Freight. I'd try and remove them while they are still bolted up, or you will have to find a really sturdy vice to clamp them in on a bench. All else fails, just install new ones with your new mids.
  16. '05 with LT's and needing quiet-ish mufflers

    Exhaust
I have an '05 that came with Kooks LT's, but have the "early" version mid-pipes that are meant for an '04. Since my mids have cats, I'd like to keep them. I plan on building my own cat-back and I already have the x-pipe portion, but what I need to figure out is the mufflers. It currently has...
  17. Looking for an Engine Removal Thread

    LS1/LS2 Engine Tech
I pulled my engine out last summer. I left all the A/C parts connected so I didn't have to re-charge the system, just unbolted the compressor from the bracket, and then took the bracket off the engine. I left the P/S pump and lines attached so i didn't have to bleed the system. Just unbolted...

Curious, How loud is this exhaust? Why are you selling it?
  19. Rubber doughnut at end of propshaft

    Drivetrain
Really? Come on. We're talking about guibos here, not once did I saw anything should or even could be solid. Common sense and automotive understanding will tell you that there will be flex joints, likely on both ends and if it's not a guibo, it's typically a u-joint. My point is that guibo's...
  20. Rubber doughnut at end of propshaft

    Drivetrain
Please elaborate why you believe this to be true? The "guibo"s are there for NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) reasons, not performance reasons. How many one piece and two-piece driveshafts have you seen installed by OEM manufacturers without guibos? I'd believe it to be the vast majority.
