2 step question

Had most likely another dumb question. Maybe I'm just overthrowing. Are 2 steps hard on a stock engine? Mine only has bolt inside nothing touched inside the engine. I've kicked around the idea of installing a 2 step. I think they sound cool and would be neat to add to my car. I've read it's hard on crank bearings? Is this true, would make sense. 🤔

Yea it’s not ideal. Depends on the type and how it’s implemented. But if you’re doing it for coolness, does it matter if it’s bad?

It’s hard on a lot of things. It can be necessary for turbo combos to build boost for drag racing. For the few seconds needed it’s worth it on a combo like that especially considering drag racing itself is hard on everything.
For an NA street car or just doing it too be cool then it’s probably not worth the extra wear and tear especially if you are going to be putting it on the two step often just so other people think your car is faster than it actually is

Say no to a rice step unless you have boost and using it on a track.

if you're naturally aspirated and you're using it as a launch aid, i don't think it's a big deal. i doubt it's hard on your engine for the second or two it's cutting spark, especially if you're not at WOT and just need the rpm held at a certain point for more consistent launch.

if you stand on it just for the noise, you're an idiot and deserve to have your engine blow up.

cool that you have perfect foot control and don't even have to look at the tach to know what rpm you're at.

I’m basically stock so I’m just dialing in the right amount of wheel hop. :ROFLMAO:

I say put it on if you like it, Just keep the "710-Hole-Fresh" and a Wix Cup on her and she'll hunker down for you I've had 2 steps on Street/Strip cars and it was just fine, and yeah bearings are going to wear its what they do, lets say we take a well maintained engine and new bearings with a 2 step on the car and run 100 passes hell make it 1000 passes in the other lane the same well maintained car with new bearings without 2 step. The 2 step being the only variable, my mic don't even go that small to read the difference in wear, granted my mic is an old FATMAX tap I broke about 7 inch off and yeah I don't know what any of them marks mean after about a 1/4 inch. But this isn't about my Sweet-Sweet Custom Harbor Freight Wooden lathe/machine shop swapped her out with a Treadmill motor, and I know what your going be asking, the answer is Oh Yeah She's Torquey all funning aside. Guys running around here with a big old Turb-Sky just for that Waste/Gate dump sound, never gapping those rings are in much more danger of getting that old piston popping zit.
So to sum it all up, Do it!
It's things like that will make you re fall in love with your car, so adding a $2000.00 NOS kit just so you purge it at stop lights sure, a big oh kicker knocking heads as you go by why wouldn't we, over sized wheel/tires making wheel bearings/front end just scream ,click and pop, I ask you who among us has not been there. Because being a car guy is cool, guys that ant wish they was cuz everyone knows that swagger walk to pay for gas the car chopping like a lumber jack and oh yeah girls like fast cars, we drive hotrods, sports cars, 4X4 big rigs, JDM ,rat rods, going to town rigs and everything in between, holy shit note to self remember that whisky makes you ramble on stick to beer before 5pm

i'd be more worried about melting cats and damaging exhaust valves with a 2 step.

when i used my 2 step, it was just as a rev limiter/launch aid. not to spool a turbo. didn't need to lay on the throttle, just part throttle to get the revs up until i heard the limiter, and held it there for a couple seconds and then a quick clutch slip. the hitmaster helped the launch even more on the street, it was great.

i doubt using it at part throttle for a few seconds damages anything. it doesn't "sound cool" though.
spool the tornado intake?
