I just ordered Comp Cam XR-277HR and the 918 valve springs. The specs are 224/228 - .534/.537 and a 112 lobe separation. I am going to install it with a ported Fast X intake and, of course, have the engine retuned. Does anyone have any experience with this cam? Thankx !!!

Close...I use a slightly less aggressive one in my car. See specs in sig. Also use the 918s and the combination is working out very well.

I'm on the stock intake manifold and TB...please post your results for your setup and maybe I'll have to think that way a bit more...but in my case I think exhaust work is the next thing to do.

Thankx ! Our cams are similar. I will post the results after the cam/springs/ported intake/retune are complete. Hope to get close to 400 HP 400 tq. My license plate is 400 400 so I don't want to be accused of false advertising

224/228 is a good all around street cam, would sound good with 112 lsa.
can't go wrong with a cam since it would make more hp/tq than the stock one.

Kind of a small cam for a 05... stock is
LS2 207/217 .525/.525 116 LSA
LS6 204/218 .551/.541 117.5 LSA
yours 224/228 .534/.537 112
You should be able stay with stock springs with that cam..
If it were me I'd call them back and get the
224/224 .581/.581 112 LSA

I had been thinking about the 224-.581 cam before I ordered the other cam. I hope I made the right decision. Thankx for your suggestion. That is why this is such a great board. Lots of folks willing to share their expertise and experience.

You should be able to get to your 400/400 with that cam. I'm at 370 with an LS1, the stock 241 heads, A4 w/stall and I've got the XR273HR which is a bit smaller.

I too think this may be too small for your application - especially on the lift side of things. These engines like a little higher valve lift.

I would try for the Comp XR281HR - 228/230 @ 112lsa with .571/.573 lift.

This cam would be very nice and I nearly chose it.

Cheers and good luck,

Macca

Again, I'll say I think you made a wise choice. Great performance and great drivability.....easy on the valvetrain and the driver. It is not too small and I think you will be quite happy. With that cam you will be making power in all the right places.

Redrum, thankx. The more I think about it I think I made the right decision. The specs are a decent jump from stock, it should sound good at 112 and work well with my mods. I will post the results when complete.
