Hello all,
I’m new to the site as well as the v8 world. Before I decided to drive a mans car and upgraded to my 06 M6 gto I drove a 95 Honda Civic lol. Looking back I have no idea how I thought my GSR swapped civic was fast. I blew a whole in the stock LS block and am currently looking for cheaper swap option than a 4K+ stock LS replacement. Ive read a lot about the iron block LQ4 and LQ9 variants but have found little information about the L96. Is it the same as the othe 6.0 iron blocks? Do I have to get a 24 tooth reluctor wheel? Can I bolt the LS2 components on it like the LQ’s? Please help.

Lq4/9 is gen iii, l96 is gen iv. Most gen iv have 52x reluctors. Gen iv has a stronger block and better rods, but it also probably has AFM which you will want to disable. It's also generally more expensive then gen iii 6.0 blocks.

imho, your best bet is to get a low mile LS2 out of a GTO or SSR. there are still plenty available out there. easiest option with the least amount of work involved.

next thing is to have a reputable place build you a good 6.0L shortblock.
