All,

There's a thread in the Lounge that might be better served here in the electronics section about the hands free capabilities of the Blaupunkt head unit in our cars.

The wiring harness in the car has been sucessfully reverse-engineered by some clever and diligent folks here on the board. I piggy-backed their hard work by offering up a possible way to get bluetooth working in our goats.

The thread is here: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1633
cut to the chase here: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1633&goto=lastpost

The new VZ model commodore range has the bluetooth intergrated with the stereo. I dont know any details yet as the model is only just coming out but if you look at www.holden.com.au you will see the option.

Sweet, i've got a Bluetooth phone and that would make it SOO much easier to use. Does the car have a mic built in somewhere or does the receiver for the Bluetooth hands free kit have one in it I wonder?

On my phone (Sony Ericsson T608) the car kit has a mic and speaker. You'd have to check with your phone's manufacturer.

-Hope that helps.

US GTO does not have a mic
I installed a microphone behind the steering wheel behind the cluster cover with 4x4 holes

The Bluetooth hands free adapter (from Sony) that plugs into the radio has the controls for the phone on it but the site didnt specificly state if it has a mic or not. The Bluetooth hands free kit should work with any phone since it is a universal wireless data connection between two Bluetooth enabled devices.

What really blows is that some phone manufacturers don't make that nifty interface box like Motorola does *cough* Samsung *cough* and since I just spent $300 on this Samsung mini phone I'm out of luck :(

dede,

Thanks for the photos, I just got my bluetooth kit last week. Where did you put the mic, and how do you like the performance of the unit?

the first time I put the mike behind the wheel behind the 4x4 holes there, but the person I would be talking to would hear the engine really loud when I was accelerating and not hear what I was saying. So I moved the mike on the ceiling in front of the rearview mirror and it works fine for both me and the person I am talking to.

P.S. If you use Sony Ericsson Bluetooth unit, one of the speaker wires connects to speaker car input and the second wire connects to the microphone car input. That way you won't have feedback.

Bluetooth kit has its own speaker. The most important thing is if your stereo system has a mute connector to turn the sound off when Bluetooth activates (when you have an incoming/outcoming call, for example). Radioshack will most likely not have any connectors that you will need. You can get connectors that fit well at your GM dealer. Do not go to parts department, they will not have it. You need to go to service department and ask them to pull some terminals 7114-4021. They have it in a box under this number.
