I was challenged to a race today by a guy who has a stock 04 cobra. He says the only thing he has done to it has been exhaust.

I have a 05 A4 with a Maggie (stock pulley), tune, SW LT headers and SLP catback. The only thing I dont have is a lot of grip from the stock rear tires.

Do you think this would be a close race?

Hmmm....something is fishy here. I have both cars in stock form (04 Snake & 05 GTO M6). If the Cobra guy knows you have a Maggie and still wants to race you and claims he only has an exhaust, I would be sckeptical. How about you guys go to a Dyno first before you race? Because there is no way in West Hell that Snake will run you knowing what you have and he is basically stock. Just my opinion.

Yeah I thought it sounded like a scam too. He added "I know you will probably beat me" but I wanted to see what my car would do. He was talking about getting a pulley, porting his s/c and possibly a cam over the winter.

What weapons do I need for a counter attack next summer? I was thinking cam, stall, new tires and tranny cooler. I am still skeptical about switching my pulley out for fear of blowing belts like I have heard a lot of other guys doing on here with aftermarket pullies.

Excellent. All very good info. I shall report the details of the race in a few days hopefully. Just waiting for the rain to stop and roads to dry out. I need to perfect my launch, it is impossible to get good traction under heavy throttle.

Nope no money involved. But I would like to win cause I have a lot of money tied up in my mods too. I know there will always be faster cars, but I want mine to be one of em.

This is probably true, too bad, cause I want to get one a couple years down the road, and dont want sloppy seconds. Youll rip him a new one if hes stock, hell stock for stock it would be close

if he's stock and you launch well, and you get drag radials, you'll take him. both of you are RWD, so there's not an advantage there.

If the Cobra is stock you will own him. With the Cobras, ya never know. They make so much aftermarket shit for those things.

I remember running a 03/04 Cobra when I was stock, he handed me my ass, but by no means did he own me. I was hanging pretty good for being n/a.
