So with the news from Mag and Danny, have we seen any movement across the country yet? At least we know they are getting some cars to dealers...although only in Ca. at this point.

With 3 inches of snow, and no heater in the Sprite, I rented a (shudder) Ford Focus. At least it will make me beg for the throttle when I get the GTO!

GTO

As of 4:00PM Friday nite no cars have hit the Cooper lot in Kansas City Ks. This is where they will come to be distributed to the midwest. I work next door at GM Fairfax Assembly Plant less than 100Yds away from the lot. I will be checking again Monday at work --- we get off at 3:00PM and I get home at 4:00 if any cars have showed up through the week end I will post it at 4:00PM Monday
Glad to know you are there!

Thanks!
i drove to Naperville, IL friday afternoon from East Side of Ohio on Rt80/Turnpike and did not see a thing. I drove back this afternoon and also did not see any trucks. I was kinda hopin id see something.
Last night about midnight I stopped by both Village Pontiac in Naperville and JK Pontiac in Downers Grove between bar stops. :D

Nothing. The trucks normally don't come over the weekend anyway, but I thought that maybe since this was a special car, they may show up Saturday or maybe late tonight.

Most dealers receive their main bulk of shipments Monday, Tuesday or Thursday.
I stopped at Village also. I stopped Saturday and drove around the whole dealership, looked in the window, and didnt see anything.
GTO

It's my understanding that these cars are coming through the transport lot that I have been talking about in Kansas City KS next to our plant. I got this info from the forman there that said several thousand will eventually be disbursed from there. Right now every thing comes through there except Corvettes --- Hummers--Caddy XLR. As of Friday no GTO'S.

They sure got a ton of Grand Prix's and Grand Am's though. :D
I wonder with such a small number of initial cars, if they'd even bother with loading them on cars and that additional labor. Its obvious that some went by truck from Benicia, would it surprise anyone if they all did?

So you couldn't weasel your dealer into using one of those Asstech's that aren't selling for a bit?
Have some dignity man!!

I can only stoop so low! I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those, unless it was so highly modified!

I will drive over to his lot today, so he can see what I am driving and perhaps he will give me a yukon for a week!
I did see in Autoweek a month or so ago an Asstech that indeed had been an engineering exercise. 800 hp or something with race car suspension etc. Maybe you can rent that one for a while.;)

No offense, but you are driving a FU-ocus - silent O. Unless they gave you an SVT - I'm not sure there's a difference between that and the Asstech. The point was more wondering if the dealership was helping ya out any. I'd suggest a space heater for the sprite - but I'm sure space is one thing that car is lacking - lol.
That Aztek is really a great vehicle. (gun pointed at head)
Yeah, by the time I would put my gear and drawings for work, I could just fit me and an umbrella in the Sprite!

No, the dealer is not giving me any deal on a car, although they have on my two Grand Prix orders, this time there was no guarantee when they would come in...

My problem, is I am not a Ford guy, this Focus is bare bones and buzzy. It feels so cheap.

(I have some great closeups of Ralf at this years F1 race in Indy I will have to send you)
GTO

Went through the transport lot again today in Kansas City, Kansas. at 4:00 PM today NO GTO'S. About 15 SSR'S plenty of Colorado and Canyon trucks but NO GTO'S. I am off the next 2 days so I can not check again till Thursday. The cars that come there mostly go to KS. MO. CO. IA. NE. OK. TX. AR. IN. IL. ---- am not sure where else after that.
Hey guys I just got a call from my dealer today and he said he talked to somebody from GM and he told him my car is still on the boat and should be docking any day now. (4th boat?) He said he was tired of finding no information on the web site so he called a friend of his who works for GM. My TPW is 10/14 with 3300 status. Since I live in the midwest he said my car should be send by train to south Chicago to a large holding facility there. Or it could be sent to Janesville Wisconsin to be held there for distrubution. As of today he knows of no cars that have made it to the midwest as yet. He seems to think the cars are speading out from CA to the rest of the country and that the east coast dealers will be the last ones to get there first cars. He also said that Chicago being a very large city with lots of large dealerships will get the first GTO's in the midwest. He said he will be expecting to get my car to me around the first week of January!
If anyone can't wait, there is a red w/ black automatic available at Simpson Pontiac in Buena Park, Ca. They have a $5,000 markup. I sat in it earlier this evening and let me tell you those are the most comfortable seats I've ever seen in a GM product!
