Well, Saturday night was entertaining for the GTO guys looking for a little respect around here.
1st up, a 2000 something Stang GT. He was supposedly stock, and knew that I am not, but we both wanted to break the ice and get some folks actually running instead of standing around talking. It was not pretty, but when I lapped around, the guys were already staging a Talon 4wd/16G with a giant FMIC...so I said wtf...
Good burnout to clean the Nittos, and were off, then he throws out his anchor when his 2nd gear blows up....so we do it again, and the 2nd gear is proven to be gone, not just a missed shift on his car. Bummer to see a fast car go down, but better him than me.....
Now good and hot, no rest for the heavy and "slow" GTO, I want to park, but an M3 wants it bad, so I shout out why not....
Dinner is served...I get the huge bite, see ya by 2 legnths on the launch, no catching up for that pretty black M3 with 4 by the time I roll out.
Cool guy, nice car, but his "engine was too cold" and the IRS was the problem according to some bystanders. Hmm, I have IRS.
I cool off, and we watch the other cars, including 03 Cobra Vs other GTO (GTSlow FTW), and some other stuff. Had to bail when the popo came by.
Later, the cool guy with a Chevy V8 stuffed in an Isuzu pup truck and I go at it after 2 weeks of trying to get together...get your spray working and we will do it again friend!!
Had a blast, except for a DICK in a Grand National who got shitty with us when I asked him if he wanted to race a GTO . He jumps out and starts blabbing about having $5k in his pocket and he only races for money. I only race for fun....or take it to the track. GNs are serious cars, and many can kick my azz into next year, but damn, ya don't have to be a braggert and a prick like you invented drag racing.
Oh, I almost forgot, just as I was leaving to go home, a BMW 318 with an M3 driveline wanted to roll. He was all downplaying his chit, saying it would be a little test run, slow roll as he had small tires, etc etc. So as we leave, he and I jump, and he bogs or something, so I wait, and he catches up. I am not even half serious about this one now, honk it off and let him take the hit....WOW, that little biotch screams off, and I had to suddenly wake up and earn every inch back. BADAZZ sounding little car, and I had the hardest time of the night for that win. Nice sleeper indeed he has.
