Well, I'm planning on running the goat for the first time at the track this weekend. I have never run on an official track before.

Any pointers? Do's? Don't's?

Dont hesitate to ask track officials questions. They are your friends. They'd rather you ask them a "dumb" question than just assume and get stuff wrong.

Dont hesitate to back out of it if the car gets squirrely... not every run will be perfect, of course. :)

Try not to think about what the guy beside you while at the Tree. You're there for you and your learning experience... even though racing buddies is fun, its hard enough to watch the lights your first time without being distracted. :)

Yellow,
Yellow,
YellowGO!<--start leaving on the 3rd yellow
green.
Dont wait for the green light before you go :)

Remember that Reaction Time has nothing to do with your over all E/T.

ok... those are just the first things that popped into my head. :) good luck to ya!

I hope your not on stock rubber with all that hp you say you have so the no burnout deal is out. I would say keep your eye on your tach for perfect shift points. Though I have only been once I posted an anemic 14.7. So what do I know

I'm running Nitto 555R drag radials (285's). Next year I plan on picking up some slicks, but for now drag radials will have to do the job.

I know this will be hard to accurately gauge, but does anyone one to take a stab in the dark? The question: Based on 510 RWHP, 540 RWTQ, M6 transmission, and 285 Nitto 555 DRs, what RPM should I try launching at the first time? I do not have my drag bags installed yet, neither do I have my diff insert in yet. (factory springs / shocks for now) I have drag bags, diff insert, and driveshaft on the way, but they won't be in for this weekend's run.

3000 RPM?
3500 RPM?

Higher / lower?
