Did the diff insert today and saw this. One side is clean the other side is covered in grease and I can see it was slung up on the chassis. Attached pictures of each side. Checked the boot it looked ok? What typically causes this?

What causes it? Wear, abuse, age, etc. It’s not abnormal if that’s what you’re asking.

Time for a rebuild or some new axles as that looks like it’s been weeping for awhile.

Yeah I was asking if there is a failure of a obvious part. I guess I’ll wipe it clean and see where it’s weeping from. Yay more work.
