, December 19, 2003 .... Pontiac dealerships around the U.S. will begin welcoming the new GTO this month. Today, a black GTO with red interior was received at Jim Causley Pontiac-GMC in Clinton Township, Michigan. Among those enjoying the arrival was customer Jim Wangers. Wangers is the purchaser of the new GTO and is remembered also as the brand marketing "godfather" of the original GTO.

The 2004 GTO provides a contemporary interpretation of the classic Pontiac sports coupe, with lowered stance and clean, athletic styling. The rear-wheel drive, 5.7 liter V8-powered GTO has a standard automatic transmission or an optional 6-speed manual transmission. The 5.7L LS1 V-8 engine, also known as the base powerplant for the Chevrolet Corvette, produces an estimated 350 horsepower at 5200 rpm and with 365 lb.-ft. of torque.

Great!

Here is my post from dec. 12 referring to Jim Wanger's GTO.

Wangers' GTO in Detroit Dec. 18th. Post #1 of 1

According to a post at "performanceyears" a dealership says that Jim Wangers personal 2004 GTO is scheduled to arrive there on Thursday Dec. 18th.

I wouldn't mind being there to see that delivery.
I suspect a lot of us are having similar thoughts about this. None of them are nice.

I'm with you. I guess you have to be "somebody" to get your's first, which is a crock of sh##
After taking photos for the event, here I am standing out in the 30 degree weather with perhaps the 1st '04 GTO delivered.

PS: That is Jim Wangers' Judge in the background.

Sorry, we know it wasn't the first. Danny (who had his car at the dealer first) or maghut (who drove it off the lot first) both beat him. Of course it still pisses me off because I'm willing to bet Wangers didn't order his back in June with the preorder. Of course, if he did, its not as bad, but it still pisses me off.
I'm glad that Jim got his car, however, it's just another faux pas in a long line of blunders that GM has made in bring this car to market...There are hundreds of unhappy campers concerning this whole roll out.

Well let me tell ya, I'm one of those unhappy campers since my TPW got pushed back 51 days. But with what Jim has done for the GTO in the past and the PRESENT, I wouldn't be upset if they gave him his car "FREE OF CHARGE"!
From what I understand, Jim had alot of input and was ask his opinion on things to change to make the Monaro into a GTO!
I've talked to Jim on two different occasions and he is the nicest guy you'd want to meet! When your talkin Pontiac to him, he has a smile from ear to ear. I just hope when I'm his age, about 77 or 78, that I'm as full of pep that he is!
Congradulation JIM! Hope to see you in Norwalk next summer!
