I noticed yesterday that my maf is really hot. Stupid that GM/holden put it behind the radiator. My question is: Does The maf strictly monitors air flow and not temp. Does heat effect it? Should I insulate it also?

thanks gentlemen

Where else should they put the maf? the maf monitors air flow to cool a section of heated wire. More air over the heated wire cooler the wire gets=more fuel enrichment.

Heat affects everything under the hood but thats inevitable as death and taxes. I wouldn't bother insulating it.

You could get rid off the maf with a PCM that has a mail order mafless tune from australia. Holden actually used a mafless tune on the HSV GTS. Quite a few tuners their have cought on to the air flow advantages of speed density.

DO A SEARCH!!! Read the FAQ's above!!!

This has been one of the most talked about topics here!

Anything under hood is gonna get hot! MAF included. The IAT is a separate piece but it is nearby and suffers the same.

Sorry, not trying to be harsh, but this topic has been beat over and over on this particular car.

Cute cat BTW, looks like my little Tyger just with bigger ears. :D
