These headlamps flake apart due to age and engine temps, last thing anyone wants to do is bake open irreplaceable headlamps to swap in a true HID projector.

IMHO it is the best option tho.

I threw HIDs in my OE lamps and honestly the cut off isnt bad so blinding people isnt the issue, the poor projection is.
we need some rich bro to make sets of 10,000 dollar headlamps for us.

there are some 401k's that need murdering.

Im just glad I got a set while I could and my current set up is mint.

I know GTOG8TA sold their last remaining sets so pass side is gone except collectors and per @Juniorss the driver side has all been bought up from Aussieland so whats left is left.

I didn't do that shit. Philips or Sylvania brand bulbs.. quality ballast block with al body.

Key here is a quality h11 bulb will align the hid spark line with the natural filament hot spot. This make the focal length and span of the projector lense and reflector work right.

This same issue happened with an bulb and is the common issue with LEDs. Hence. Don't buy cheap bulbs

I've been happy with DDM Tuning over the years for HIDs. They're not expensive and they work well. I've always stuck with 35w as well, they're plenty bright enough and you don't worry about too much heat.

DDM is absolute garbage

I bought into their crap and never will again.

Bought their relay harness and every time it would blow the fuse, after 3x I traced the wires, they were run wrong to the relay and upon power up it would send power to ground. Emailed them about it and they blamed my install. I made a video documenting the wires how they were run using a multimeter to show they were wrong and after all that they still refused to accept they were wrong. Sent all the info to my card company and they refunded me the charge and DDM got to screw themselves. It brought me so much joy to send them a final video of me bypassing the fuse running them straight off a bench car battery and watching theyre garbage melt wires and burn while getting my money back. Told them theyre lucky this isn't my car or else they would of received a letter from my attorney for their dangerous product.

TRS (the retrofit source) is the only place Ill ever buy from again. Great customer service and a great product line up for PROPERLY retrofitting HIDs into halogen housings.

I used to be all about DDM, but haven't used them in years. A friend (here on the forum) said that their wiring harness almost set fire to his wife's GTO.... so that has me hesitant about buying from them again.

I even did the "washer trick" to set the projector back which helped with the light output. I loved my HID's when I did that.

When they finally went out... I got stuck using regular halogen bulbs. I do miss all that light, for sure.

I think we too are going to be friends.

Clearly they had a batch of harnesses that were shit since same thing happened to me I bought the harnesses for buddies TBSS and my Camaro SS at the time, I think this was back in 2010-2012. Hilarious I warned DDM and provided proof yet they ignored it.

Well, I chatted with XenonPro and the guy answered all of my questions. I then went to YT for some reviews and seen a few complaints, but the one that sticks out is they sent the wrong bulbs and refused to make it right. So they are now last on the list. There are plenty of good reviews but that pisses me off that something so simple to fix is being ignored, if the story is even true to begin with.

The Retrofit Source has two different Morimoto kits available and the cheaper $180 35w 5500k kit is in consideration. I am going to call The HID Factory and inquire about their version of the Morimoto Elite HIDs since it is cheaper. They recommend the 35w kit and advertise the 5500k kit as the best for light projection and the 6000k as the most popular. Homework is fun.

Thank you to all that have replied to the thread. I know that I am not hacking my stock headlights up and that I am 90% sure I am not going with a 55w kit for the risk of heat damage. I don’t mind adding in the HD relay harness because I will go out of my way to make it look factory and hide it within the car very well. I will reply with what I find out from calls and chats today.

TRS and 35watt kit would be my vote, the owner Matt is legit, I had one issue and he himself reached out to me and made it right. Ill always plug for them now.

Talked to the HID Factory today and the guy I spoke with said in their Morimoto kit, they upgrade the ballast because they claim theirs is better than Morimoto’s. Recommended the 35w and 5500 or 6000k bulbs. Less than $150 shipped on their website. I’ll see if I can find some worthwhile reviews and go from there.

99 dollar Sylvania h11 LEDs from autopart store near you. Easy to find. Ease to install oh and I left the dust covers off for years.

On my g8 when the humidity got high enough it would occasionally get some condensation. Rare though

I will probably never by them now but I bought them around 2006ish for a GTO buddy before I had a GTO and they worked well for him until he wrecked it. I'm not sure if he's running them now on the new car.

I bought a set for myself around 2012 for my Raptor 700 when I had a life and they worked without issues on it but the light output was just garbage because of the light housings. In the end night liding is lame anyway but they never missed a beat while living on the ATV.

The BPS Lighting Perfect Fit series LEDs I have fit in the GTO lamps and the covers go back on with no issues. They are good bulbs but I think they are better suited for reflector housings rather than a projector. I have the same bulbs in my Impala and they work well in the very small projector style fog lamps as well as the low beams.

....are those jeep wrangler halo LED's?

do you enjoy blinding old ladies at night causing their park avenues to careen off the road into ditches and then explode in a ball of fire?

Some universal Amazon LED halo that I custom mounted. My old headlight housings were brittle and falling apart, wanted to do something different. And yes they’re too bright so I had to run only two low beams on low beam. I can guide a space shuttle in now from space haha

Turn signals and 4 ways function with stalk through the halos, but the low and high beams I had to wire up a switch panel (because the wiring of the headlight and the relays, and because lazy) where the smokers package or nitrous heater/purge button would go.
