One nice thing with the sylvania LED's on my truck. I have them in the Highs also. so they color match perfectly - and the flash to pass/annoy really well.

(F150 stock halogen lights suck donkey ////)

I had Hoen High beam bulbs in the GTO and the G8 - to color match. it was close. and I rand 4300K HID's but if I did it again today I would do 5000K maybe even the 6000 K.

The Sylvania Led's supposedly are 6000K.

My daily driver 2019 4Runner has about as much light output as my GTO which we all know is hot garbage. It wasn't until 2020ish that Toyota decided to change the low beam to a LED board (I should have waited a year before purchasing) and finally the high beam in 21 or 22. I'm looking at a full replacement instead of messing with the OEM housings.

I find that the lighting in my 04 is much better than in the 05. I believe it's because I adjusted the headlight height in the 04 and the 05 is wherever the factory left them.
pretty common thing that people used to miss in the past, i bet even these days.

Found the thread:

It sucks now that I don't have HID's in there. But when I did, the light output was awesome.

Shame all his pictures are gone.

People buy aftermarket housings and often that doesn't work as well.

But yes bulb alignment is important no matter what bulb path you go.

Toyota!

The only company that maintains bulletproof reliability because it uses ancient technology. Only after its been around for a decade will Toyota break and finally get with the times...

Pretty sure they only added Carplay and Android Auto to their line up in 2020 as well...

Theretrofitsource is the one and only place I buy parts from. I've done several retrofits on various cars of mine. I had a set of HID's in the GTO but didn't like how the dust caps wouldn't fit back on. I have an NOS set of headlights now that I will be installing. Already test fit their 2stroke 3.0 LED's which fit without removing the dust caps in the high and low beam positions. HID's will probably be brighter but I'll sacrifice some output to have a sealed headlight again. Especially with these brand new never used housings.

I may bake open my originals and see what I can do with them. I'd like to stuff a nice D2S based projector in there.

I just drilled a hole into the dust cap, and sealed around the wiring. Over time, the seal got weak... but we're talking years. I'll probably re-seal the opening if/when I get a new set of HID's.

I just inquired about BPS Lighting's H11 35w HID kit. Lots of great reviews on their website and since the Perfect Fit LEDs are pretty good, I sent them an email with a few questions. I’ll see what they say and go from there. It is $100 for the H11 Terminator 35w 6000k kit. The 6000k should match my LED fogs perfectly and I will slide my H11s over to the high beams if I get this kit.

They’re still available yet I believe. My only gripe is having to jb weld the FXR’s. Which in the GTO housing probably doesn’t matter since you probably won’t utilize the threaded shaft anyway but in a typical retro that doesn’t already have a projector you may want that. Either are a fine option depending on the headlight and the space available

Stock dust caps are no longer available, at least according to my Chevy parts guy. I tried a couple of weeks ago, no dice.

Put a set of off-the-shelf H9 halogen bulbs in the low beams. That's what's in the highs, same physical bulb but higher output and you just have to snip a small tab inside the connector to make them fit.
Cheap, easy and no unwanted changes in beam pattern or color temp.
Had this setup in my '05 the entire time I owned it.
Did this. Works great. Suggest you try this set up before doing anything else.
