I have an Elite Engineering red catch can on the BOM car. I painted it BOM to match the car. I now want to strip the paint off but I'd like to do it in such a way so as to not damage or tarnish the red anodized finish underneath. Any ideas on how to remove the paint without damaging the anodized finish underneath?

That’s a lot of paint to strip. How much is a new can? I’d be tempted to just buy new.

Lacquer thinner cleaned the biotch right up. Looks like a new red anodized catch can now. My new black one will go on the BOM and the older red one will go on the TR 04 I'm getting tomorrow.

Hmm...that would have been kind of scary to do (for me). The anodization is pretty durable, but I assumed anything that would remove paint would also remove the anodization.

I'll have to remember this.

Anodizing is actually an altered layer of metal on the surface so not like a paint at all. Though I did test the lacquer thinner on the inside of the can first to see if it would bother the red coating. It did not.

Late to the party, but I would have said that if the lacquer thinner hurt the anodize in anyway, I would have been SHOCKED.
