I haven't looked at what class all the mods I plan on doing will put me in but street modified is what I am shooting for. Big goals haha. My ideas for mods and my build continues to grow. We shall see, I know I don't want to be outclassed but it's not a huge deal to me, I just want to have fun but at the same time I also want to be semi competitive with the other people of the class.
SM would be tough class for GTO for sure. CAM C or STU is where GTO would fit much better IMO.
For STU, you have to pay attention to the rules.
Tires are 200 tread wear min. and 265 max. width at 2800 lbs min. weight.
For CAM C, its pretty much only weight, 3300 lbs min. without driver.
Tires are 200 tread wear min. and any size is allowed. Wide body fenders are needed for fitting 305/30/19 re71r tires to be truly competitive in this class but 285/30/18 is ok and can be made to fit with rolled fenders and lots of messing around with camber and wheel offsets.
Considering that you are willing to strip the car way bellow 3300 lbs weight, it would allow you to weight balance the car front to back and side to side by placing weight in strategic places (low and to the rear right corner). That is a big deal.
Stock diff is throw away item to start with. Tuning the car around stock diff is total waste of time.
Thanks! I hid everything away and installed the switch for power to the OBD 2 reader where the fuel door release was (now a manual pull lever for fuel door, got rid of the tiny actuator after it wore out) and the display for the OBD 2 reader is mounted behind where the dash alert tone pings through so you can tell when its on and when it's reading. Power supplied for tablet through plug I wired up through the 3 prong smokers option plug that was unused behind the dash. May not be as good as a motec dash but sure beats the price for now.
I'm looking to replace my front floor mats with the GTO design with silver reversed triangle. Originally purchased them back in 05 My problem is the new mats come black or ebony and I don't know the difference and do not know which one I bought back in 05. Is there much difference ? Any help...
I thought I would post how I changed the color of the yellowed power steering reservoir using black dye. The tank is Nylon, which will readily absorb dye if the correct products and processes are used. There are a few sites on the internet where people are using this to color motorcycle tanks...
Does anyone have or know where I can get a few strut bolt/nut caps ? These are for dress up and are polished or chrome. I've lost a couple and would like replacements. They are held on with orings for anyone who's been a member for awhile and remembers.
Working on fabricating intake tubes either for my front brakes or my intake through the ex-fog light housing. I removed the front lense of the fog light, and grinded down the channel where the lense sat and have added a black reducer to see how well it will catch the air. Haven't started working...
