Hi. I bought my GTO a month ago. Middle LCD display in the instrument cluster works partially. Most of the time bottom 1/3 of display (horizontally) does not show anything. However sometimes some lower symbols show up little. See 2 pictures showing 2 situations. Do you think this can be dirty (white) wires connection inside instrument cluster where LCD is connected with cluster? anything else or simply LCD is broken. Any advice from experience?

I know and saw the posts about option to send all Cluster to one place and they can simply replace middle LCD only using used part/LCD from other complete cluster. This does not change or require any mileage cluster adjustments.

Any additional thoughts or recommendations are appreciated. Thank you for watching my post.

Before you do anything radical like replacing it or having it repaired, take out the cluster and take the covers off and inspect where the LCD panel attaches to the circuit board. If there are formations of white crusty gunk on those connections VERY GENTLY get the gunk off. You can use a very soft brush like an old toothbrush and if needed some electronics cleaner (nothing else! - and make sure it has completely dried before powering it back up!) to get rid of the white crusty gunk on and between the connections. Cleaning this gunk often restores function to the LCD panel.

One more question to all of you. So can I take any Instrument Gauge Speedometer Cluster , 04-05-06 and manual or automatic and the LCD screen part will fit and work well into my 2005 manual. Or there are any differences in LCD screens or functioning depending on the year or manual/auto options. I am considering buying used full instrument cluster on ebay and remove and swap only LCD screen.

Any confirmation is highly appreciated. Thanks!

The controls are all handled by the electronics, not the screen itself. All the LCD screens are the same in all clusters.

unfortunatelly not. I bought used claster at ebay and will consider to use parts from this or replace in the future.
