Decided not to clog up rich's supercharger thread. Might get more feedback this way as well.

Well, I have searched for some time for an exact match. Not sure if you guys can offer your own input here. I have so far been unsuccessful.

These are the colors I have tried, and my experience with them.

SEM 39423 "Medium Quartz Metallic" - Rich gave me this one, and the shade of grey is a near perfect match, but the lark silver flake makes for a stark contrast to the OEM fine purple "dust" on the factory trim.

Ford M6454 "Medium Platinum Metallic" - Tried to get a similar color to the medium platinum metallic that SEM used to sell (SEM 39413) as a bumper coating. Not sure if it is the same color. It has a nice fine flake and a nice sheen, but is several shades of grey darker than the factory interior color.

GM WA111B "Amethyst Metallic" - C5 corvette color, grey with a fine purple flake. this one had me really hoping, but the grey is just too dark. it looks nice, though.

GM WA9926 "Purple Pearl" - this was a rare camaro color back in the early 90's. the grey was much too dark, and the purple flake was very faint. Very subtle and unique color though.

of all of them, the amethyst metallic has the most potential for a paint mixture to start off with, i think. perhaps he just needs to use a lighter grey as a base.

any thoughts?

Its not much right? Cluster, door handles, parking brake, console, waterfall, 2 vents?
that's not the issue, i've repainted the silver trim in both cars. it would be nice to have the original color.

The 'Aussies probably combined every leftover paint they've ever had since the 70's and used it for the trim. The purple hue might just be a radioactive byproduct.

I repainted over the dull siver'ish crud on mine with silver metallic and sprayed on a clearcoat. Like the look much better!

figured i'd make sort of a "cross post"

comparison pictures of SEM 39423 "Medium Quartz Metallic", SEM 39283 "Light Titanium Metallic", and factory trim.

SEM medium quartz metallic (39423) vs factory

SEM light titanium metallic (39283) vs Factory

It's crazy how the OEM color looks in person. Silver in some light and sparkly purple in other light. I wonder if anyone really knows what was actually sprayed on it. On the first pic, is the OE one left or right?

the oe one is on the right in BOTH pics. in the second pic, you can kind of see the purple reflecting a bit. the first, you cannot... not sure why. it was the camera or the lighting at the time.

sorry, should have mentioned that.

The SEM medium quartz metallic base color has a slight purple tinge, and the flake is silver.

the OE base color is a light grey, and the flake looks like it's a very fine purple. i've had a trim piece in the past where the grey color ended up coming off somehow, leaving just the purple flake. it looked trippy.

That's wild, the medium quartz metallic in the first picture looks like the OE one in the second picture. And the OE one in the first picture looks like the light titanium metallic in the second one.

The guy that came up with that OE color is laughing right now, just like the engineers of a ton of the crap that we are having to replace at this point in time...

Perhaps the answer is to just repaint all the interior trim with your choice of paint and at least it will all match!

Personally, the gauge surround in the 06 is painted with the Medium Quartz Metallic and sitting in the car I really don't notice enough difference to catch my eye or make me cringe.

Go to an automotive paint supply joint and have them photograph the part with their
paint matching camera , it works really great.I have it done a number of times
and have been really pleased with results .
G
I tried that here and they said they needed an area of the color larger than I could provide to get a good shot with their analyzing machine. The thin strips of color on our interior pieces weren't large enough of an area to get a good read.

Both of the center console components should provide more than enough surface area for the machine to read.

NotHubert, have you tried taking the one you have out to a Ben Moore or other paint shop?

My local guys said they need a sample that is relatively flat and at least 3"x3" or 4"x4".

Best I could do is compare a real piece against available color chips. That's how I arrived at Medium Quartz Metallic.
