Got bored (bad when you're an impulsive person).
Track it (with turns).

You'll never run out of things to do when you start breaking it and overheating it. :gears:

Been following him on both here and the FB page. I don't think he mentioned it in this thread but on the FB group, the 300ZX is getting the motor out of the GTO and a good number of parts have been taken out of the car already.

To each their own, but to spend all that money + time customizing a setup to tear it down and go a different direction.

You selling the GTO as a roller?

He already sold the gto as a roller from my understanding. But i agree with you, could have done more with the car. Im just along for the entertainment either way

Exactly! I was shocked they broke, but Frank Beck from BRE stayed open a bit later so I could pick up a spring kit from him. He says he sees it all the time and it is the reason he only uses PAC.

Guess I tried to be cheap and paid the price. Even with just a LS9 cam.

Is it because the heavier valves of the 823 heads? Boost put more stress on the intake valves? Shit luck? Guess I'll never know lol I dodged a big bullet.
When I did my cam, I bought the package from my buddy. He refused to sell me beehive springs with the package. He said double or nothing. I see why now.

That is the plan!!! Endless amount of suspension options, rear end, much lighter, rarer, and it has fkn t-tops! But it will be LS swapped, plenty of space and simplicity to work now that the original engine will be gone, and suspension and rear are so simple and easy to work on I welcome the challenge of breaking shit just to have an excuse to upgrade LOL. Already have the CTSV 6piston kit and brembos coming in, will grab some Rays wheels (can actually fit a meaty setup in the front and rear with or without wide body), suspension gets sorted out and by the time it is set up properly the LS kit and supporting items will be here.

To each their own, but to spend all that money + time customizing a setup to tear it down and go a different direction.

Sigh... I knew this was coming...
Rough estimate, but the cost of the car + upgrades were roughly 11k.

It amazes me how people think to LS swap something it costs 20k and takes months, because it doesn't. I've made 8k off of the GTO / parts so far selling the stuff (sold it cheap because I do not have the time or space to part out, and rebuilt title) I won't use so far and that covers swap components, CTSV 6piston Brembo kit, spoiler, diffuser, professional full detail of interior, new suspension, bushings, front/rear UCAs, , the full cost to buy the clean title 300zx, trans adapter (using the z32 5spd) etc.. The thing will be swapped within 2-3 weeks (engine in car next week) and only that long because between Embry Riddle, building another Genesis LS swap for my buddy, and still having to plan to help fix a buddies 2jz wiring harness, I'm kinda tapped for free time. The 300zx aftermarket is endless and MUCH cheaper. I've done this a few times, know what work is involved (I do it all myself), see something I want then jump! GTO kinda peaked for me, it is heavy, I am not a 1000hp kind of guy so power level was fine, local community isn't that great, aftermarket is limited yada yada... I'm a full interior, ~600whp, unique looks kind of guy who enjoys cruising, car meets blah blah, so yes, for me the GTO was fun but I woke up bored that weekend, bought a 300zx a few hours after seeing one, then yanked the GTO drivetrain then sold the roller. GTO shell sold hours after posting it... so time+money spent is a wash. My IG followers are more understanding because they were there since 2016 with the Genesis that got a LS1, LS3, LSA before I woke up bored and bout a project GTO. Just trying to hit all points, nothing against you, but the GTO community (in PMs) has been letting me have it since I left for a 300zx LMAO it'll be a fun ~3100lb car that is rare (Saw one over the weekend for the first time ever and instantly wanted it).

Ok rant over.

Nothing more I could do, PERSONALLY. I am not a 1000hp guy who lives by time slips, so never was into gutting the car and going full racecar. I enjoy a full interior car and frequent meets, windows down cruises, stand out unique looks, and more boring car guy things.

While I agree with you for an aftermarket cam, it was only LS9 cam with stock pulleys. I thought I was safe, but will only run duals and change them yearly from now on lol I also am againt cams with high lift and unnecessarily agressive ramp rates (for the way I use my LS powered vehicles) but ate my own beliefs when I dropped a damn valve in one of the most reserved setups out there!

Prepping her to go. She will be missed... tons of cuts, bruises, sleepless nights eager for parts to deliver, smiles as folks break their necks, gapping folks late night in PHX (pause) etc., I shed a tear lmao

My last word in my defense LOL this is what the 300zx will look like once it is done. GTO and 300zx crowd are so different that many think im crazy, but just enough rice to appease the JDM crowd while keeping it true with a LS powered heart... it will be beautiful. Oh, with a custom cowl hood!

Gotta fight me if you don't agree :punch:

I enjoy your builds and I'm jealous. I don't have the $$$ or space to do as much as you did in such a short period of time. Condo HOA are a bag of dicks.
Pump out more youtube videos during your projects! Similar to "B is for build" with how they set up a camera and do time lapse footage with brief moments of explanations.

Getting my Aeronautical degree! I worked Flight ops and Base ops in the Army as a 15p, so figured it'd be a great degree to pair to my work experience. I absolutely love the school!

I actually finally started doing this. I'm not very good at it and find it awkward, but I will put something together in a series almost and hope I get better. My youtube channel has over 100,000 views so I need to take it more serious. Thanks for the tidbit about time lapse... didn't even think about that. I'll start by getting the v6 pulled out this evening... very daunting task tbh, everything is so well built for a 30 year old car it is crazy... BUT THERE IS ZERO SPACE!

Me and a buddy have been working on his '90 Z32 and I can vouch for the lack of space. Those motors are just so wide in the engine bay

I meant track the GTO. Oh well.

I'll never understand the desire to be a social media "influencer" and my fellow millenial.
