From my understanding, an LS6 intake manifold nets about 15hp. Anyone make this mod yet to their GTO?

Anything from '01 up has the LS6 intake.

I've done it on my '98 which had an LS1 intake and got about 18 rwhp with my heads and cam motor.

That's because technically it's still an LS1 block despite whats bolted on top.

One will have to verify with part numbers when they get theirs as to whether or not it's an LS1 or LS6 block/heads.

That brings up another point, aren't all of the LS1/LS6 blocks technically the LS6 casting? Or is that just the ones from Mexico?

Tom

My understanding is that they are no longer casting LS1 blocks, so the GTO technically has an LS6 block and intake, with LS1 heads and a cam all it's own. Has anybody with a car verified the LS1 or LS6 block?

Yea they still cast LS1 blocks, but they are slowly being phased out.

Without looking at part numbers, the duller finish/luster to the block is the LS6 block. it's that way because of it's molding process. That one is made in Mexico I believe.
