i was told by an Fbody guy that anything other than LTs make too much torque and not enough HP.

Torque

Torque is what gets you there....Horsepower gives you bragging rights, at the Strip anyways. Hard to pick headers, no backup numbers to judge from that I have seen posted. I'll be interested to see what Hooker comes up with. ;)

Why only 1 5/8"? I thought most LTx/LSx headers were 1 3/4"...

I kinda like the 1-5/8 tube for a 3800 pound street car. Some powerful 350 SBC race cars are running that size tube with great results.

The mid-length design also looks pretty nice considering some of the "bundle of snakes" design long tubes I've seen. These look pretty straight and compact right after the initial bends from the heads. Seems like a good idea to me...

Maybe the right exhaust shop could even add some collector length before the rest of the exhaust is attached to add to the tune.

Time will tell if I'm all wet though... :D
