Ok, Now that I have had my GTO for 3hours and :04 minutes, a few facts!

1. The stereo is great-it has allot of bass and......it does indeed play .mp3's!!!

2. I found a paper tucted away in the seat...it makes the dead battery thing still a mystery.....it is a yellow paper shaped like a door hanger that states:

!NOTICE!
REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION AND PLACE IN CENTRE CONSOLE ONCE VECHICLE IS TURNED OFF.

3. The back seats are great, if you can get into them.

4. I had a guy in a newer Camero next to me at the light, when it turned green and I gave her a little throttle for the 1-2 shift, he looked over with a look like "why doesn't my car sound that good, and what is that?"

More later....I am going off to shine her with some Zaino and sleep in the garage tonight!!

Yes I had made 6 disks and heard they would not work...I brought the disks with me when I picked up the car and put them in anyway. Well, just as I planned, James Brown "I feel good" was playing as I drove off of the lot!

Today, I played all of my GTO songs.......almost drove right past my office!!

Were those CDR or CDRW? I assume if it does mp3s that it does CDRW, but I'm semi-ignorant about such stuff and the manual only mentioned CDR.

The diska were CDR, even the owners manual mentions them...

Also, even though my dealer had told me in November that my car was actually going to be built in December, the build tag under the hood lists my build date as 10/03 which is the date DY listed on this site when I gave him my order number!

And...the footwells have lights as well as around the ignigtion. More as I find it!

I have tried several CD's with MP3 on them and they will not play in my car. Did you have to hit any special setting on the radio or did you just stick the disk in and it worked? What program did you burn the CD with?

i think he is mistaken... all the aussie monaros say that it can't...

maybe its a newer model ? i doubt it.

more than likely his burning program converted his mp3's to CDDA format during the burning proccess automatically.

some mp3s also have protection so you cant play it even with an mp3 player. my car cant play mp3 had to get it installed.

Haven't tried MP3 in my car yet. (Not a big MP3 fan) Most "hardware" MP3 players can only decode a certain range of bitrates. Many will not go above 256K and some cheapos won't do over 128.

Usually it's a matter of 'finalizing' the disk before an MP3 CD player will play it. A data disk without being finalized doesn't have a 'menu' for the CD player to recognize. It's usually built into the options of wanting to be able to burn to the disk again or not. You want to choose the option to never burn to the disk again, and then you should be able to get it to play in MP3 CD players.

I finalized the disk, burned it as an MP3 disk and a data disk in Nero and still no go. It will play CDR's burned as full versions of songs, I believe that is the CCDA mentioned above, but I cannot get an MP3 only disk to play.
