Over 1500 miles and 25 hours driven. 79 gallons of gas, but got 20.2 miles avg for the whole trip(thats incredible). It was worth it. The upper part of N.Y. is beautiful. There were many things to see in the area. The people were great in general but it was nice to see some of the crew that you only get to see every so often. It was nice to meet Kurt and his parents. They are great people. I shared a room with Flashpoint, Turkeyhawk, and Brazen06GTO. It worked out great.
The show was somewhat of a disappointment. Turn out was lower than I expected, but understandable. The actual show was not run very well. I know this may piss someone off, but it is true. Although some effort was made in the long run it was not good. The parking was horrible. Every time I left to go somewhere either my spot or the spots around me were taken by non show cars. In the beginning of the week some of the staff seemed to care. After a few days of the same old shit they were also frustrated and it showed. The times on the daily sheets were a farce. If something was to open at 9 then maybe by 11 it was.(car wash) The tour to the steamboat left 10 minutes early and if you didnt have a GPS you were screwed. Other sheduled things never happened. Trip to the track was a free for all. The daily cruises never happened. The autocross although a success was to start at 10am. The first lap around the track was not untill after 12:30. The caravan to the drad strip also left early and it was an hour and a half away. Tech went pretty good with only one mistake that I know of. Concourse cars had nowhere to park untill Thursday and tried to find room in popular vote. It was a mess to say the least.
The good news is that I really had a good time seeing some new things and old friends. A good group of us hung out till 1-2 am every morning and got up early to start over. The weather was almost perfect. It was hot but only had about 30 minutes rain on Friday night. There were a lot of Pontiac V. I. P's there and was able to spend many hours talking to John Sawruk(Yoda) It was cool to see him aknowledge the nickname at the awards banquet.
Will see you guys in Dayton next year. July 7-11. You can check that out at http://www.gtoaapocinationals.com/ Hit play. Pictures of the week to follow.

First off, I would like to send my best wishes to John on his fight with cancer. And I am pulling for him. He is a great man with hugh amount of knowledge. And I would love to spend time with him again in NJ if he is able to come to the GTO regionals.

Carl, I would like to say that I am very happy to have met you and Todd. As well as meeting others, and hanging with people I knew befor such as Morty and Jason.

I would like to add that the hotel did very little to aid our parking problems. All they did was either nothing, or make it worse.

The crew was working hard. And I am upset to see how many members did not help. And I am not talking about the GTOAA members. But the board members not participating enough. There were plenty of board members who worked very hard. And I was able to meet them, and work along side at times. And I would like to say hats off to them.

Now, the food wasn't what it was made to be. A buffet isn't hamburgers and hot dogs. It is a salad bar, choice of finger foods, choice of main food. The cookout shouldn't have been meatballs and chicken nuggets. $18.00 for that?? I would really have rathered go to subway all week.

The :quoties: cruses :quoties: were not much at all. And the only one I could actually make was going to the boat ride. Which was the best preset group event (accept the awards banquet) that was good. That was the best food till the banquet. And it was the most organized group rally to go somewhere. I never saw anything close to a caravan to the drga strip. It was a huge mess to get there.

To really say it all. Better things could have and should have been done to properly organize everything. I know little problems happen. And the most upsetting for me was my improper classification I was in. I regestered as mild mod. But got highly modded. And I am sure it hindered my ability to allow people to vote correctly. Even though I had my class changed. I never got a correct dash card. And not much could be done with all the hard work that was going on.

My problem didn't really bother me. I went to go have a good time with friends. Meet new ones. And have fun. And I actually did even with the issues that went on. I didn't care about taking a trophy for the show. And I was surprised to have taken 3rd in the autocross.

Results, the week was a mess. I did what I could to help. Even though I was only supposed to be a 2004-6 tech-in crew. But it was nice to give back when I could. I still had a good time. The biggest thing that really bit me was the food. I love to eat, and the food should have been better. And I heard alot of complaints. Even from the crew, and falily members of the crew.

Yeah, the Nationals have always been a cluster...at least for the 04-06s. But, the best reason to go is to meet your friends on the board. Actually, that's the only real reason I can think of. Wished it was closer...I'd like to see the gang again. I won't register next time. I'll get a hotel down the street or something.

ill have to agree even though i was only there for a couple days.
-the friday night "cookout" was a joke. i was in line with my father to get some of the $18 per person food and saw a couple trays of finger foods....we didn't even bother and went to a restaurant down the road.

the seminar with jim wangers had to be rushed through because they started about 45 min late. kind of a shame as he is a great person to listen to.

the banquet was scheduled from 6-8. we planned on leaving soon after 8 to get back into ct by 11. it was well after 8 and they only just started to give out some awards. and waiting in that huge line to get food before even finding a place to sit....:bomb:

i know for sure certain people worked very hard, but from my end it did seem very unorganized in general.

as far as the people, the location, and the cars - couldnt ask for better :)

(except that raceway/casino place...that place sucks. i lost lots of $$ :banghead:)

I am in agreement with with Carl and Kurt on the food and caravan issues. It was nice to have free beer, but for non-drinkers and kids to have to $2 for a soda was stupid.

There were a number of problems, but for a bunch of car guys and not event coordinators they did a good job.

Autocross took forever to get going, 4 hours for them to get their 'computer problems' fixed. Once fixed it was a blast.

Parking did suck, heck, we were parking in the grass and pissing the people parked near us every time we moved, lol

BUT

If anyone had a chance to look at next years plans, WOW, they have their crap together, and have an amazing event planned.

Pedders will be there in force with Backstreet Performance and their Dyno.
