I installed the Noltec Motor mounts this weekend while
installing long-tube headers on the 06 M6 GTO. The mounts
were purchased from teamscss, very prompt, no fuss -
thanks!

My main reason for replacing the mounts was to reduce the
amount of movement down there, due to the tight clearances
around the headers. They have certainly succeeded in this.
Prior to installing the mounts I gave the engine a wobble
with two hands and it shook maybe half an inch at two or
three hertz. With the Noltec mounts it was like trying to
shake a huge boulder: just nothing at all.

Installation was pretty straightforward with the headers
out. Jacked the engine with a floor jack on the oil sump,
used a thick lump of wood to spread the load, ensured that
the wood was pushing on the vertical side of the oil pan,
not on the center of it.

On the passenger side I could barely get the engine high
enough to remove the OE mount. On the driver's side there
was less clearance I had to remove the right-angled
aluminum bracket which connects the engine to the mount.
Three bolts, very simple.

There were two steel heatshields atop the OE mounts. It
wasn't obvious how to orient these on the Noltec mounts,
but I like heat shielding, so I just stuck them in there in
positions which looked like they'd clear everything.

Driving impressions: me likee! There is no additional
noise. There is additional vibration at idle - the whole
car wobbles a little bit. This is not unpleasant.

There was a modest but nice improvement in shifting. The
shifter normally thrashes around rather a lot, especially
during the sudden changes in engine torque around a hard
shift. That has almost all gone with the Noltec mounts -
it is more definite. You feel more connected to the car
and more confident in the shifting.

(This seems to happen each time I remove a rubber thing and
replace it with a urethane thing. Tighter, tougher, more
connected, less boat-like. Need more urethane!)

So, thumbs up. This is a recommended mod for the serious
GTO driver.

Oh, one potential downside: if you strike your lovely
stainless headers on a driveway or speedhump, the floppy OE
motor mounts will take some of the movement. With the
Noltec mounts that won't be happening, and the chances of
busting your exhaust system will be higher.

Glad to read someone else likes them. I installed the Blue MMounts over 40,000 miles ago and at the time I was also very pleased. At the time it seemed like it improved the Pedders point-n-shoot steering and had a kinda throttle response improvement feeling. I've gotten used to it now and they still work great especially at WOT. I also feel it is a recommendable mod. Nice Share on the install and sweet to read they are still available (especially from a Sponsor/Vendor)...:burnout:

Be careful complimenting Teammscss, you might get flamed! J/K!
I also had the Noltec motor mounts installed when I did the headers, partly because of of my mileage (62,000) and partly because I was concerned about clearance issues with the headers.
I didn't do the install, so I can't vouch for the ease or difficulty, but I'm very happy with the results.

How do I order these on the site? There doesn't seem to be a link to them.

They should be listed on your left.

Has anybody installed them and not been happy with the vibration. Because of the clearances of the APS d/s manifold / steering shaft, I need to lessen the engine movement but don't want to wreck the comfort of the car. I don't want to turn this into a race car! Any thoughts?

I just installed my Lovells (same as Noltec) mounts from Kollar Racing Products (A.K.A. Duckman). I would agree with what flink has to say about them. There is more vibration all around, but especially at idle and most noticeably when you initially start the car.

They definitely make the powertrain feel more "connected". I like the connected feel, but the additional vibration will certainly take some getting used to.

I am expecting them later this week, early next week...the last batch sold out so fast..they went from the crate to the shipping box...I never got a chance to photograph and catalog. LOVELLS couldnt complete my order, I only got a handfull coming and two are all readyy sold. These are proving to be difficult to get!

Noltec motor mounts uninstalled

Drat.

Of course it happened on the way to Thunderhill for a track day. As
soon as I hit about half-throttle in second the shifter would jump an
inch to the right.

Fortunately, member billygoatgruff had recently done a motor mount
upgrade and was driving up in the morning and member "GTO fan"
knew this and had a cellphone. I got the stocker installed in the
paddock in the morning (had to use a flashlight for a while) and
didn't miss a lap.
