If you liked 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' you might enjoy the English Author Douglas Adams' view of the place the GTO comes from. He is wrong in a couple of places, there's heaps of snakes. 6 of the 7 most venemous live here, and the worlds' most venemous is the Pacific Sea Snake which lives off the coast...

Also, by and large, Australians like Americans and most things American, probably more than they like POMs (one of which I was) :D

FYI, after spending 30 days of my life in Australia and now being the proud father of my GTO, all I can say is this.

1. Aussies know how to make cars.
2. Aussies have no freaking clue how to make milk shakes.

And they put a slice of beet on hamburgers.

I enjoyed a visit there, and their beer (subject of prior thread) but I can't stand beets. ;)

"Take good maps. Stopping to ask directions only works when there are people nearby.
* If you leave the urban areas, carry several litres of water with you at all times, or you will die."

Your hosts will usually make sure you get home, and waive off any legal difficulties with "It's his first time in Australia, so we took him to the pub.", to which the policeman will sagely nod and close his notebook.

thats awesome. sounds like a place I could enjoy.

OMG talk about resurrected from the dead. My bad, I just used the "similar threads" to the one you were in search.
