Well, after 4 weeks I'm pretty much done identifying what goes where from the two boxes of nuts and bolts this shithead gave back to me from the attempted engine rebuild. Now I'm trying to track down what's missing which is a hell of a lot more difficult - no major parts fortunately. "Dry-fitting" parts to the old block has helped a lot. So far, this is what I have found missing and replaced:
dip stick and tube
flexplate to crank bolts
Exhaust system rubber mounts and clips
broken/f'd up temp sensor
A/C drive belt
Drive-shaft coupling bolts (replaced due to torque and stretch)
Now the stuff I can't get part #s for and need help with:
Compressor to bracket mounting bolts
and
a4 transmission support bracket nuts and bolts
More part # questions to come,
