Hey,

Ok so if I don't do the best story telling here I am sorry. Here we go:

I was on 23N in NJ near highland lakes and I saw a Porsche Carrera zip by me. Well there was a lot of traffic and traffic lights so I was able to catch up to him. After a couple miles I managed to get around enough cars to get across from him at a light. I didn't even look at him till the light turned green. We both started off slowly then he jumped on it and pulled his nose out. I evened up and started sliding foward in second. And by third I had a cars length on him. I shut down at 90 ish since this was a 55 mph road. He drove on by, I'm sure he wasn't too happy. As far as what year, It looked new, maybe 2002.

I am looking at pictures and I can't figure out if its like a 99 or 02 body style. Anyone got some info on how to tell?

Either you're lying, or that man must've been an absolutely atrocious driver.

It's possible... that car comes in so many variants, some less than the GTO, others more. Don't discount it... but also understand that if you don't know what you are looking at you might be in trouble.

If it was a 98-200 carerra it will do mid 13's in the 101-104mph range. They came with 300hp. The newer 2003-2004's do low 13's in the 105-108mph range. Nevertheless, great kill.

Yeah alot of people don't realize that the base 911 is a POS when it comes to straight line accel. I have had alot of other races and won but never against a car worth so much more than mine. That is the main reason why I posted it. The 99s do like really high 13's. The 2002+ do mid to low 13's. I can't tell what year it was but either way it was fun!

If I was a Porche owner, and could only get what the GTO gets but paid for a Porche, I would call my car a POS.

If I were out on a drive in my GTO, and got whipped by a basemodel ford Focus, I would call my GTO a POS.

(Good example??) I have no idea what the Focus costs, but it came to mind.

Just for comparison's sake, the specs of the 2004 Porsche Carrera Coupé (this is the base model) from Porsche's website:

320hp @ 6,800RPM
273lb-ft @ 4,250RPM
0-62MPH (0-100KMH) in 5 seconds (Manual)
3,020lbs (Manual)

An auto gets it done in 5.5 seconds and weighs in at 3,142lbs.

The 4s (AWD) Manual goes in 5 seconds and weighs in at 3,296lbs.

And the 911 Turbo Manual gets it done in 4.2 seconds and weighs in at 3,505lbs (415hp / 415lb-ft).

You would think that with that much hp and that little weight, they would move out faster? That weighs like 142 lbs more than an s2000 in auto form. A s2000 with over 300 hp moves out better than that.

Um...S2000's have 240hp last I checked...

S2000, 2.2l inline 4 in 2004 guise (2.0l previously), 2,835lbs, 240hp @ 7800RPM, 162lb-ft @ 6500

Was it 100lbs ~ 30hp?

Further, I'd like to point out that I cannot fit in an S2000. My knees are in my chest, and I won't even talk about the shape I have to pretzel myself into to get in and out of one.

What's the difference? One car is a fast, sleek, unbelievable machine that pins you to your seat and makes driving an orgasmic experience. The other car is a Porsche.

We have a saying at the race track-"Porsches are fast on the straight but they slow us down in the turns!!!

Good Kill. I haven't had any Porsche takers yet where I live but I'm waiting for one!

I just checked and Vortech (announced 23 July) makes an S/C for the S2000 that takes HP from 240 to 358 and Torque from 162lb-ft to 216lb-ft. I'd say that'd be a bunch quicker than the Porsche.

Ok... I am sorry, but I would take a Porsche over a GTO anyday. Its just in another league. GTO's are like the minor leagues (same for my ws6) where Porsche steps you into the majors...

I friggin love Porsches. The lower models give a good run to Vettes, fbodies, stangs, and us of course. I'd be happy just to run into someone who cared enough to give it a go. Alot of Vettes and high end sports cars dont get sucked into street racing.

911 TT is the :hail: but all in all i like everything porsche does, even the SUV.
