What if any power programmer for the LS1 motor would be recommended?

I would not pay any money for a Hypertech, yes it changes a few things but is very limited for the $330+

Diablosport has a "Predator" available. RWTD and other vendors sell them. [email protected] should have them sometime in spring hopefully. This allows you to change gear ratios, shift points, rpm and speed limiters, a/f, timing. It is a very nice scan tool. The newer versions do datalogging. The best part is that you can hook it up to your home computer and email the file to the vendors and they can modify them more! ...take out codes, program for a cam....

LS1edit is a great tool for experienced tuners, there is also other LS1 PCM tuning software coming out, but it is at the same difficulty level.

Nothing against GMS.......but I like to support the vendors that support us. RWTD will do tunes afterwards for free ... GMS will not.

Many of the vendors on the left sell GMS MAF's .... I'd be very very carefull with using those with PCM tuning tho.

i know the LS1 and LT1 r different engines pretty much all together but i know a few guys who have used granetelli MAF's on thier SS impala's and camaros and said that it was a complete waste of money...

How much HP and torque gains could be expected from Diablosport "Predator" or other power programmers?

well .... you cant tune a PCM with one basic program ..... technically you should get the car on a dyno, and adjust the comptuer with the predator. If you car is bone stock and the stock program works quite well in it I would assume you would see minimal gains.

The reason why I was asking because my modded Dodge Dakota R/T responded extremely well with the hypertyech power programmer. I figured the same would apply to the GTO.

Find a workshop that has a dyno and knows how to tune with LS1edit.... do it properly the first time :thumbs: Hopefully this includes some of the Forum sponsors

Honestly, for bolt-ons and minimal mods, why mess around with piggybacks, modded mafs and other guess work trying to trick the PCM when you can get better results tuning the stock PCM?? :wall: With a decent exhaust system and tune there is a lot more than 350hp hiding under the hood of any LS1 powered car waiting to be unleashed.
