There's just something wrong about that. It would be like the guy in his Mustang II who was trying to race me the other day... like joining a "Mustang II" club.
Yeah, the Packard Club that I belong to has a "Future Packard Owners" club, where the children of members are overseen by an adult, and the kids have their own judging, activities, etc. They even give out thier own award at the annual meets for the Packard that they judged as best in show.
The Packard club does not allow modified cars or even cars w/ non factory 12volt systems, etc., but I think that is fine.
Maybe the Pontiac clubs should start a "Future Pontiac" or "GTO" owners club.
It just seems kind of myopic for a club to not allow the new GTOs.
People usually do this kind of thing when they are threatened.
It is pretty small minded and probably is not a loss for any of us.
You know, it comes down to 'car people' versus 'club people'. The same tools who hate the LS1/2 GTO's are probably some of the same ones who hate nikkiv's pro-street GTO because 'how could you take a classic and cut it up / ruin it like that'. Dan
What about those of us that have had both?
I had a '68. It was a total POS! and I loved it.
I have a '04. It's an incredible automobile. and I love it.
Naw, I think the current one "All the great taste of the original without the carbs!" drives home the point pretty good!
There has always been a divide between Carbed and EFI vehicles. Even in the F-Body world. None of them take you seriously, at least not until you walk them down the track!
LMAO! Definitely true about the carbs vs. EFI crowds. A guy at Photo's some of my friends know has an old Cutlass that's quick by it's own right. I think he runs low 12s. Anyway he was nice but always giving us shit for having fuel injection saying we were slow, "you can't work on those cars" etc.
Then Jason gave him a ride in his h/c blown '02 WS6. The poor guy was shitting bricks when they came back. He couldn't get his cigarette lit his hands were shaking so bad.

At the 2004 GTOAA Convention - there were 7 2004 GTO's registered in the 2004 popular vote class vs 500+ vintage GTO's in all the other classes.
With 14,000+ 2004's now sold plus the 2005's being sold . . . it would only take 3% to 4% (500+) of the 2004/2005 GTO's to register & showup at the 2005 GTOAA Convention to outnumber all the other vintage GTO's.
What a statement that would make . . .that would be cool.
We have some large groups now all over the country. Even if the Chicago and Houston groups showed up I think it will be a sucess. I think I will be happy if we have 50 new GTO's registered for the show.
With the raffle prizes and some neat events/seminars I hope to entice more new owners to come and register.

Devil yellow . . .
The door is open to the main GTO event of the year. Set the stage and they will come. 50 is okay ... but hundreds would be awesome.
Just have to wait and see. Will be there there Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Hope to see you there.

Honestly, If hundreds of 04' / 05' cars showed up I think that they would be banned from the show in the following years. They would simply put a 10 or 20 years or older limit on the entrants..
Yes, mine is pretty much stock . . . checked about the popular vote classes with the GTOAA judging committee & the few appearance modifications & the tinted windows places me in the modified class.
I am in the "Winners Circle" class being won 1st last year.

Im going to have a talk with those guys. Heres the thing, our cars are still considered brand new. The thought of a "factory stock" class does not really work. If a new gto has bolt ons or a few appearance mods Im going to sugguest that its still "stock" - and its not because I dont want to be in the same class as you I really think we are going to have some highly modifed cars and the way its written out I feel we'll have 3 showroom GTO's in the stock class and the rest in modified.
And just so you know John I did vote for you last year because you had one of the cleanest engine bays I've seen
Sxty8goats - The tigers thank you for your vote. One good turn deserves another . . . you'll have me & the tigers vote.
Devil Yellow - Thank you for your vote and you'll get our vote too. Yes, it will be interesting this year per the class breakdown. as you mentioned, there should be a good showing of some awesome modified GTO's with fewer stock GTO's.
will there be a table or room for LS1GTO.com members to sign in & meet? special event to wear the shirt.
