What does everyone think the rarest color will be for the new gto's? my guess would be purple.

That's one of the reason's I picked it. Besides that I was po'd that they didn't have green. Black gets too hot in the sun. Wife said no to red. I don't like silver. I am too introverted for Yellow and neither shade of blue would float my boat. I learned to drive in my dad's 1966 Tempest (in 1966) that was blue and at night it looked just like the Cosmos Purple so voila.....

Hey all, i'm new to the board and saw this post. I'm a salesman at a Pontiac dealer in Maryland. I've already had a customer place an order with me on a GTO and I have recived a lot of info on the vehicles. Colors i can tell you no problem,

exterior interior
Phanton Black Metallic (24%)----Black(75%) or Red(25%)
Torrid Red(22%)--------------------Black(75%) or Red(25%)
Quicksilver Metallic(20%)---------Black(75%) or Red(25%)
Impulse Blue Metallic(13%)-------Black(70%) or Blue(30%)
Yellow Jacket(10%)-----------------Black(100%)
Cosmos Purple Metallic(6%)------Dark Purple(100%)
Barbados Blue Metallic(5%)-------Black(100%)

And there you go :D

These colors are just the "recommended penetrations" for the dealerships. I got the same cut sheets from my dealer before the advanced order program began. I asked him if he had any info for me and all he had was internal dealership stuff not meant for the public, but he gave me copies anyway. The GM management also predicts that 70% of "your customers" will want the standard automatic transmission and recommended that only 30% of the GTO orders, that the dealership place, be manual transmissions.

Seems like just the opposite is the case (as I would expect.) I don't know why anyone would want to order a auto on this car (unless under very special circumstances or that your Mom will be driving it!)

I was suprised at the "actual" numbers of Impulse Blue GTO's that have been ordered so far - they well excede the 13% that was recommended.

Very interesting. Thanks for the info Scud. I think more people will order the Barbados Blue once they see it. It was just too much of a gamble without seeing it in person IMHO.
I agree that it is a gamble without seeing it in person, but I am still willing to go for it. Can't wait to see it in person.

I was just gonna say, there are a lot more than 13% that were sold as Impulse Blue. :)

kbaba,

I had heard this along time ago about 70% of the cars they predicted would be automatics. I discussed this with my Dealer and we both agreed that this seamed way off.
What this could mean, is that Pontiac might have allocated alot less 6-speeds than they will need and those turning in late orders would only be able to get automatics! This is why I ordered my car earlier than I orginally had wanted.
This is just a theory of what I think could happen, but I think this could very well be the case!

Again, what Scud-Z28 noted above is NOT actual orders - only suggestions of what the management THINKS dealers should order.
We know. We got the same thing at ours. Just commenting how GM's research is sometimes..."off".

Are there any good photos of anything in Barbados Blue? I saw a disturbing article on some Aussie site about Barbados Blue/GREEN!!! I dont want to panic just yet.

Thanks for posting them, I think Ive seen them but a couple of them look new. Man I sure wish there was just one good clear shot. Ive seen red, yellow, black and purple ones in show photos. Silver is silver and Im sure that other blue is similar to that electron blue but Barbados could mean a lot of things. Hope Im right that it will look more like an 60s-70s car color, that was what I was looking for. At least I dont see green in the photos!
