If you get a USB-serial adapter, try to find one that uses the FTDI chip rather than Prolific. Prolific is more common but the drivers can be problematic especially with newer PC's.
100% on this. The one I mentioned above as not working is Prolific and the other one I have which works beautifully when I need it is FTDI.

There is. It depends on what you are doing. If just reprogramming the ECU, then the ECU needs to be linked to PIM after reprogramming the ECU. See post 47 of this thread. What codes are you getting? Is the cluster flashing SES, ABS, and other faults when you turn the key on?

There is also paid access to the full service manual on the ACDelco site. If you want reprogramming information straight from the horses mouth.

Crap! I have no clue how I missed the second part. Okay I'm getting a SES and thats it, but now going back to post 47 it looks like I have the same problem again because my vxdiag nano doesn't work properly so I can't perform the passthru part.

Okay, I got the bcm and ecu link with the tech2 and now I'm trying to link the PIM to the ECM but I'm getting this message
