Reflash question

If I reflash my ECU with a Tech2 or a Clone version do I need the security pin, or is that not needed? I ask because the Diablosport i2 didn't work to reset the computer.

There is no requirement to link the BCM to the PIM/ECU if you are just reprogramming the ECU. I thought I mentioned that previously. I think when you are switching to the BCM linking after reprogramming the ECU it might be knocking the ECU out of “linking mode”. Which requires you to again reprogram the ECU in order to initiate the ECU “linking mode” which, based on the service procedure, is only active directly after reprogramming the ECU.

Okay @eXo3901 here how it went using my vxdiag passthru and tech connect I reprogrammed the ecu

A warning popped up saying I was about to reprogram it again
Wood Font Parallel Pattern Tints and shades


I hit the OK and reprogrammed it when it was done it gave me a warranty code.

When that was completed I clicked the button that said proceed with same Vin, and clicked the PIM to ECM link tab

So this window popped up and I selected the top option

And instantly this popped up didn't even give me the option to use th IMMO code

Well, using the Tech2 to link the Techline connect to reprogram the car and possibly link the ecu to the pim failed. it reprogrammed the ecu just fine but never even gave me the option to link the 2. I don't even know what to try next

what does "reset pim" do?

Nothing it fails also, but the "reset ecu" works and resets it

If the bcm and pim will link but the ecm to paim fails right away, i wonder if the ecm is bad or the pim is bad or something messed up inbetween.

I've been thinking about that this evening, but if the ECU was bad would it still take a reprogram? And if the PIM was bad wouldn't the BCM to PIM link not work?

Thats where my eduction ends, i have not researched any of those possibilities at this time. But as far as a computer goes if part of a computer board fails it wont let info go past, all depends on where or what part fails.

Thats why is asked where you live, if you were within a few hours of me id grab my stuff and give it a try, but south dakota to Tennessee is quite the haul lol.

I have a tech 2 with working tis2000 on a older laptop that has the rs232 port.
