10 days to go...I don't know about you guys, but I can't sit still. LOL

Here are the details for the Saturday Morning Cruise we'll be taking. We will be departing from Boulder Station at 8:30am SHARP for a nice, scenic drive near Lake Mead and Valley of Fire and then back to Kevin's house by 1pm for a BBQ to remember. The total distance is 128 miles and drive time is estimated at 3 hours 6 minutes. We will be stopping at least once for group pics, possibly twice depending on our time.

The cruise route goes through national parks, so make sure to bring $11 in cash to pay for the park fees.

Make sure to fill up your tanks BEFORE we leave for the cruise. We will not be stopping for gas along the way.

Just as always, safety is crucial. If you want to drive more spirited, please stay in the front pack and if you prefer to enjoy the scenery stay towards the back of the pack. We will have 2 way radios to make sure we don't lose anyone, but if we are responsible we shouldn't. I do not want to hear about anyone losing control and crashing, so please be safe fellas! That doesn't mean we can't have fun (just be safe, smart and responsible)! :gears:

Here is the official route, please print it out: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=4111+Boulder+Hwy,+Las+Vegas,+NV+89121+(Boulder+Station+Hotel+&+Casino)&daddr=E+Lake+Mead+Dr/Lakeshore+Rd/Lakeshore+Dr/NV-166+to:NV-169/NV-40+to:Valley+of+Fire+State+Park+to:36.42073,-114.55822+to:Cabo+San+Lucas+Ave&hl=en&geocode=FVpjJwIdEfEj-SGexT_NrySbAA;FQTxJgIdJMEm-Q;FToHLAIddfUt-Q;FQc1LAId7z4s-Q;;FfhEKgIdUt4h-Q&mra=dpe&mrcr=2&mrsp=4&sz=12&via=1,4&sll=36.401665,-114.577446&sspn=0.103901,0.185394&ie=UTF8&ll=36.269743,-114.580536&spn=0.639962,1.450195&z=10

Thank you Jonnie for putting together the route for us. :patriot:

This sounds like a great idea. It just depends on how late I stay at the drag strip on Friday night.... hmm...

This is a nice fun twisty road with some great high speed sweepers. We need to be aware of other travelers on this road. It isn't uncommon to see tourists, cyclists etc also enjoying this road. There are many many great photo spots, but the turns are so damn fun you might not even stop.

Park Rangers do patrol both of these roads, and the fines for speeding in a national park are substantial (~$1500).

For a sneak preview of some of the sites we will see along this route see the following site.

It is truly beautiful, and worth taking it slow to see all the sights... but if you just want to go fast and hit the corners stay up front with me, but not too close. I am a late braker

Keep in mind those are twisty mountain roads. So googles time estimation is a little off. We will probably be moving substantially faster than that. No big. It just gives us more time for pictures.

FYI... I have driven this whole route at consistently high rpms and used less than 1/2 tank of gas.

I wouldn't recommend trying to make it on 1/2 tank BTW... The night I did that I rolled back into Vegas on fumes. There is a fuel stop right before we get on the I-15 on the way back into Vegas.

Luis, I wouldn't worry about your car running out of gas... I'd be more worried about it overheating. You can ride with me if you want.

I know man, there were actually quite a bit of photobucket albums in our '07 forum, but not so many posted up in the thread for this year. We'll have to make sure and change that one. ;)

There has to be someplace we can set up the cars and park them all neat. then snap some photos from a building or cliff.
I am hoping to make a few posters out of this run

There is one spot up there I have in mind. Huge parking area for tourbuses. Right in front of some white dome rock formations. There will be plenty of parking for some nice scenic shots. There are also plenty of spots along the road to stop, but not too many others where I think we could fit ALL the cars.

that will be great lets hope we can get everyone to park in a somewhat neatly organized way

I am also thinking of just after we stop running up the road and waiting to take video of all the cars as they fly by :turbonaug :turbonaug :turbonaug :turbonaug :turbonaug :turbonaug :turbonaug :turbonaug :turbonaug. but i only can take vid from my digi camera, anyone bring a nice digital video recorder?

I will be bringing a nice DV cam. I do plan on either heading up the road and stopping, or having someone else head out before us and set up.

My A1000 fuel pump with twin turbos atop will be boiling fuel on a slow and long trip, but a short break or more cool fuel in the tank will help.
