Well I saw this over on Tech and thought it would be a great way to collect data on how long the LS1/2 SBE will hold when boosted. Only post if you have ran boost on a SBE and if you broke something post up what broke.

Format for Post
Type of Forced Induction (Turbo/Supercharger)
- Boost Amount / RWHP/ RWTQ
- LS1/2 Stock Bottom End
- Miles on the car when FI installed
- Miles ran since FI has been on the car (ie: CURRENT MILAGE)
- IF you broke the motor, list what was broken.

That's a good tune if the piston ring lands outlasted the rod bearings.

I think it's a good idea to have our own list here as not everyone frequents both forums and this would a more specific GTO list...

My rwhp figure is low as Aussie dyno's read about 15% lower which would equate to more like 580rwhp over there. The rwtq figures over here too don't correlate to what you see so it's probably not worth listing. Is it worth listing 1/4 mile times in there too? My car went [email protected] which shows it performs better than the rwhp would suggest.

Every OE motor is a little different, every tune is different, sometimes fuel is different/not good... It's a crap-shoot how long it will last.

done by yours truly ;)

started as a nicD tune but the dynos wideband was having issues and he left it safe while in AZ. once i got home, and used my dual FAST widebands it was obvious that the sob was PIG rich. hours of tuning day in and day out, little here little there, spot tuning followed and the car was dead nuts. i must have had 15 different tune scenarios for the roll-ons depending on the wager & other car involved. :)

Never Hurt the motor only the Axles, Clutch, and CV shafts LOL

Did it break during tuning or something as you didn't even get 1k miles out of it? Do you know why it broke?

I think he had boost leaks and when he fixed them it overboosted.

My best guess, 14lbs was too much for that poor cast piston

It did boost more then we had intended, BUT we had already tuned that area before. Just a sustained run at 14lbs for 20-25 seconds. I just dumped my computer today to install Windows 7 or i would post the logs of the runs.

The log showed ZERO knock and fueling was spot on at around 10.8 to 11.3 with E85.

EDIT: after it all happened, we looked back at other logs in the past and compared them, we had indeed hit that level of boost more then once during tuning.

Thanks, that was pedalling it off the line too (1.66 60' time) with 235/60/15 drag radials in average air. With a few tweaks and better traction it would be in the mid 10's easily. :)
Oh how I would kill for a 1.66 60ft..
