I recently purchased a new to me built 04 gto. Well it had a tick that only got worse with the rpms. So I looked into it. Found that one of the rockers on cylinder 7 ( where the noise was coming from ) had a loose/ broken snap ring. These are comp cams snap rings.

So taking it off stopped the noise? Good thing rings are pretty common and generic.

that looks a lot more like what happens when you overextend the clips on installation. they deform and end up sitting like that on the rocker trunnion.

I didn't put these in I just happen to hear a tick. And investigated. That's what I found.

He was just making a general observation.

You may want to disassemble the rocker and inspect the trunion for wear. The Comp trunions are known to wear out prematurely.
