So, with the planned heads/cam updates I'm going to be making to the 04 LS1 I thought along the way I should add a timing chain dampener. The one that is known to fit late build LS1s is the LS2 dampener. Well, I ordered an LS7 dampener by mistake but it looks EXACTLY like the LS2 version. GM lists them as separate part numbers. However, I just got back from Speedway Motors where we compared the Cloyes LS7 one I bought to the GM LS2 one they also sell and they are EXACTLY the same except for color and brand name. Since the LS7 version was $20 less expensive I decided to keep the one I have and save the $20. Does anyone have any idea why they would have different part numbers?
Also, since my LS1 never had a dampener I don't have the bolts that hold it to the block. Does anyone have a pair of those bolts they could send to me? Or can anyone tell me the size, length and thread pitch of those bolts so I can buy a pair of them in preparation of my engine build?
