Good Evening Ladies and Gents,
I have done some homework today and perhaps some of this will help you.
We all know UP (Union Pacific - 1-800-255-4915) moves the cars from California and they all stop in Fairfax, KS. But from Fairfax east, they are moves by NS (Norfolk Southern - 1-800-635-5768). They are off-loaded, then on-loaded in Fairfax by Jack Cooper Transport (1-888-428-5528). They are then transported by truck from the NS lot to the dealer by Allied Holdings (no number yet).
Here is how is works.
UP can tell you where your car is by VIN. Miller (the guy who normally answers) can't help anymore as too many of us have called. So he transfers you to Eric, a supervisor. He will help.
Jack Cooper will not talk to us, only the dealer. Cooper will tell you what train car your car was put on. But their info is questionable.
NS can only tell you where the car is. They prefer to talk to only the dealer, but you can sweet talk them. However, they do not have the capability to track by VIN for GM. That info is only avail for the Blue Oval guys. If you look online for NS, they have a map that shows all of the easter locations for car drop-offs. If you pick the closest one to you, there is a phone number.
I don't have anything on Allied Holdings yet.
HOWEVER. All this info is great. But in reality it still sucks. UP told me my goat was off-loaded on 03 Jan. Cooper says it was loaded on 05 Jan but the car number they gave my dealer was bogus. Therefore, NS was unable to tell me anything but she (Missy) was helpful. So now the dealer is trying to get the NS car number. So like many of you, Pontiac tells me that my car is at the dealer. The dealer's computer says it is on his lot. GM is charging the dealership for the car. But where is my car????
Good Luck,
Jerry
