I swapped my monaros transmission without checking the tag first
Judging by the plug colour and pins
My stock was 4l60e
While swapping I noticed the tranny im installing has a bigger torque converter the input shaft look different so i kept going to see if it will work, and it did
The gear ratio seems much different than the 4l60e but so far i have no idea what did i install ! I searched the tag everywhere couldnt get an answer
It ran perfect
Except that second gear feels heavier than before cz the ratio is different
Can someone help to identify the tag?
also do i need to tune ? And anyone has an idea about the gear ratio for this tag?

There are transmission tag decoders out there but none disclose what the HA in 6HAD means. That’s critical as that describes what the application your trans was previously used in.
trust me i tried every possible way to find out
I picked it up from a shop they had no idea what it was and was a good price
The only way is the tag but not one seems to know how to decode the tag

1st alpanum char, 6 could signify 1996 or 2006 year model

According the pdf list i just dug up, 2006 GTO would have been 6HMD. The 3rd alphanumeric character seems indicative of a variant of the particular platform, where the 2nd seems more indicative of the actual platform. Could have been the same platform but different motor, or some other variation.

So 6HAD may have been some variant of the commodore/monaro platform.

Just a wild guess.

I found this on the Just Commodore forum

6HAD = built 2006, HAD means its built for the GEN III V8 and its a 4L6something...

Check with Holden tho as the data I have contradicts itself, they use an identifier "D" as being for both 4L60E and 4L65E so NFI how your supposed to work out which it is.

In case anyone in the future needs it

First digit is the year its built eg 5 = 2005 8 = 2008

Second string (according to Holden) equates to ..

HHD - 3.6 V6 Without ISS
HSD - 3.6 V6 With ISS
HKD = 3.6 V6 without ISS
HTD = 3.6 V6 with ISS AWD

HAD = 5.7 GEN III V8
HWD = 5.7 GEN III V8 AWD
HZD = 5.7 GEN III V8 Crew Cab/Cab Chassis
HMD = 5.7 GEN III V8 VZ coupe
HXD = 5.7 GEN III V8 AWD 2006->
HBD = 6.0 GEN IV V8 with ISS Sedan/Wagon/Ute

ISS = ????
D in all the above = 4L60E, oh and it also means 4L65E
