Hi Guys,

I did a search and could not really find what I wanted to know.

I need to know whether I can use something like HPTuners, Predator or LS2 Edit at home, to tune my car after some major mods. Or can this only be done by a tuner?

I will be adding the following mods:

Cam,
Ported & matchflowed heads,
Ported intake and TB,
JBA Shorties,
K&N CAI

TIA

If you chose to do it yourself I would recommend HP Tuners as well as a wideband sensor. That combination will give you the most flexibility and accuracy. LS2Edit sucks for various reasons (locking, poor UI, no data logging, no analog inputs, limited licensing scheme) and the Predator just isn't adequate for tuning a vehicle completely.

Thank you for the reply.

That is what I will be going for, then.

Another question on the HPTuners: Does the $499 package have the same tuning abilities as the tuning shops?
Does it have similar abilities to the $649 version?

Thank you

Totally agree about using HP Tuners. With the VCM Suite GM - $649 (Enhanced I/O) you can data log without having the laptop in the car. Here is some info
from HP Tuners:

What does the MPVI Pro interface allow me to do?
With our Pro interface, you can use 0-5v signals from various sensors such as EGT, Wide Band, fuel pressure and others for sensor input in our scanner. You will have real time data from those sensors right next to your standard scan tool data such as TPS, RPM, MPH, etc.

Our MPVI Pro interface also has black box data logging built in. What this means is you are able to scan your vehicle without the use of a laptop using the interfaces record button. You can then take the interface into your home to transfer the log contents from the interface to the computer. If you have an MPVI Pro it will require no hardware modification. Also note that VCM Scanner comes with both interfaces regardless as it is part of our VCM Suite package.
