UPDATES! VMRs installed! Only took me two facking years to decide on wheels, and several hundred hours researching every wheel ever to fit on a BMW or Corvette...

Thank you to EVERYONE who has contributed thus far! Even Corndog for throwing shards of piston at my keyboard... :wall:

Porkchop now wears VMR V710s in hypersilver, 18x8.5 ET45 fronts and 18x9.5 ET45 rear. I had some bad experiences with one of our sponsors and purchased the wheels for $850 shipped from a non-sponsor who has been 80-90% great to deal with. Can't mention their name in this thread, though. Included center caps that VMR forgot to send (how typical, it seems.) This was a VMR fault, not the vendor I ordered from.

Using aluminum 69.5-72.6mm hub rings from ebay. ARP wheel studs up front (because of my auto-x setup that uses 17x9 ET50s and 10mm spacers). Rear ARP wheel studs will be installed end of this month. I work 7-days a week so... :bomb:

Tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sports, 255/40R18 fronts, 275/35R18 rears. Did this to get as much front rubber as I could possibly fit up front to dial out the understeer these cars have. The extra .25" of sidewall up front keeps my Kooks LTs from scraping speed bumps and pot holes.

Will review these tires in a separate thread, but holy hell they are amazing! Smooth, quiet, low weight. This entire setup (wheels/tires) shaved 16-18# of rotating mass off the old setup (17x8 stockers, painted, with heavy and brutal Dunlop ZII 245/45R17s for street and auto-x). I weighed them all, twice. :gears:

Rear fenders rolled, not very well, and I raised the entire suspension 10-12mm for better ground clearance, and to help the tires miss the fender (tuck) during max compression. The fronts were a challenge - 10" wide tires! I managed to use only a 2-3mm spacer to gain .060-.070" clearance between the spring collar and front tires with ~-1.7* neg camber.

I effectively keep 1.5-2 fingers stacked distance between top of tire and the fenders, all around. I love it this way. Looks clean and factory, camber is not excessive, so tires will wear well, and I am not bottoming out or scraping my high dollar tires. Look is amazing! As is the handling and stability of the now 2" wider track width all around. Also rear height is important because I sometimes take road trips with lots of heavy junk in my trunk... :wall:

A big fat thanks to the following:

-Andy at Kollar Racing for my suspension setup that lets me drive road trips without pain, but still handle like a C6 ZR1.

-Mike at Haddad Motorsports in CA for the further suspension/tech help to fit these monster bitches up front.

-Sporaclic for the tremendous inspiration, and the uber detailed posts and reviews he submits which make modding 10-fold easier. Your CGM is an icon!

-Michele Pitts, my local GTO lady and close friend who sat down with me and helped me sort through my aneurysm of a wheel headache, the day before I pulled the trigger on these. She helped me realize the VMRs were the Occum's Razor for my build.

-Dantheman for poking me with a stick and showing off these excellent wheels on his QSM.

To those who care, the 18" VMR V710s are the LIGHTEST gravity cast wheel offered by VMR. Mine weighed 22.5# for the fronts and 23.5# for the rears, down from the crappy 26# stock 17s. Only lighter wheel is their rotary forged 19" VMR V810s which do not have great offsets for our cars, and offer almost no concavity.

Now for the pics - grab your Astroglide and favorite kleenex box!

New in box stunning, but missing centercaps.

New shoes! Who DOESN'T love a good fatty?

Pictured at Goatfest this weekend, washed but not detailed. I pulled an all nighter on top of working all week to get it ready for the big 10th anniversary event.

After Goatfest10 this past weekend in Fredericksburg, TX, pictured near the General Nimitz Pac-War Museum, a place for history nerds and veterans alike to enjoy (I am the former, raised by the latter).

Original post that started this awesome thread...

Obviously LOTS of VMR popularity on these cars. Let's consolidate the fine pics we have on this forum into one neat, easily accessible thread to help those of us considering a VMR product. :pimp:

Here are the requirements to include with your post:

-Clear, easily viewable picture uploads

-Please state sizes and widths of your VMRs, which finish, and include the important info on the offset you selected

-Did you use hub rings? If so, where from?

-Where did you order your VMRs from, and how long did it take to receive them?

-Lastly, include the tire sizes and type you are running, and if you have experienced any rubbing front or rear.

Don't be shy - this is the time to be a pic whore! :turbonaug

It feels wrong posting these pictures after I just put all kinds of new body mods on this weekend.. Oh well, ill add the new stuff this weekend when I do a new Photoshoot.

Vmr V710 Hypersilver
8.5" 45 offset Front
9.5" 45 offset Rear
I had no reason to wait for the 50 rear offset as I used 45 for years with no issues.
Rear fenders are cut.
I got mine from mod bargains early out of the winter season. Had them in 5 days.
I Bought aluminum hub rings from 1010 tires 69.5 x 72.6 (i think on the second number)

245/275 Nitto Nt05 No rubbing lowerd just about flush to the tire height at all four corners.
Soon (by wednesday) to be testing Re-11 Bridgestone 255/265. I hope the fronts clear the coilover.

Now, enough mumbo Jumbo.. picture time.. minus the new front lip, mavman wing, replacement honeycomb lower grille.. and.. The front BBK :D.. Oh and ignore the missing centercaps in some of the photos... There was a delay since they forgot to send 2 of them with the wheels.

continued...

I purchased my hub rings through Discount Tire, the cheap plastic rings work great.

These wheels were ordered from Modbargains.com and arrived within a week.

My rear fenders are rolled and the car is BC coilovered, random parking lot rubs.
