I started logging my oil pressure with HPT and don't like what I see. It's reading about 15 psi at idle and 25-30 at higher rpm. I think the relief valve might be stuck.:eek2: Anyone have any numbers on their LS2?

I have 37 @ idle and around 50 @ higher RPM's. This is taken from a mechanical gauge.

those are good #s, gm spec is 6 psi at idle min, 24 psi 1700 rpm, and higher as you increase rpm over 52 psi will operate relief valve.

I have 15 at idle and 25 psi max. So, even to GM's spec I think it is low.

Thanks for the responses.

Your car is fine. Been there, done that.
HP tuners is way off on this for the ls2. You will find with
a tech II and a mechanical test that your oil pressure will
run 35 at idle after sitting an hour and 65 after you hit the gas.
At least that is what mine is.

The funny thing is that when I turned that monitor on I knew
I did not want to know what it said and I was right.

Later,
Gary

Wow, thanks Bumbly. This is what I was hoping to hear. If this car had a bad oil pump, it would be getting traded in on a non-gm vehicle. Time for a mechanical gage, anyhoo. :drink:
