245/40/18 and get a 4 wheel alignment.
The alignment is not necessary as the 245/40/18 is exactly the same diameter as the 245/45/17 that came stock (25.7 OD). The reason GM went with 235's is because of the rubbing issue as the 18's have a slightly wider tread width. I have Potenza RE 050A's on my car and have never had a rubbing issue.

In addition, check for uneven wear on the tires coming off, and if there is unusual edge wear, then have the alignment checked to make sure it doesn't damage the new hoops. It is not necessary simply because of the tire change.
