A few of us took a toor of the Woodford Reserve Distillery last Tuesday. It is amaizing how small the place is. The pictures of the filling line is the entire filling line. Everything is done by hand in small batches. There are 4 of the sour mash tanks, 3 stills. Each barrel is hand built and scorched. One barrel is filled at a time. The burbon is then aged and bottled.

Enjoy the pics, Thumbnailed to make it easy on everyone.

You don't know the engineer's creed?

Measure Twice, Cut once, Hammer to fit.
I wish that was still my credo...
now its become:
operator screws up and fills out Non Conforming Report tag (or NFG tag as we call them... no f-in good... hehe),
do paperwork to document it
determine if its good or not
document final disposition, including creating a new shop order if necessary cause the lady whos supposed to do it 'is new' and too lazy
chase down a minimum of 3 signatures
continue doing what I was working on 2 hrs ago... or start the next NCR

so much for being a manufacturing engineer!

I hear you man. I am so frustrated in the course that my company is taking. BS. We finaly got rid of the accountant and replaced him with a PHD in Chemistry. Like we need a PHD to run a ****ing Manufacturing Facility. How about hiring a Friggin Business oriented person to run a business?

yeah, the latest rumor is theyre going to make all of us share weekend shifts (like working mandatory 50's and rotating shifts every 4 months isn't enough)...
Anybody in automotive looking for a good engineer?? I'm ready for a change, maybe if i make my hobby my job i'll have more luck.

Oh yeah, awesome pics as usual PJ!!
