Anyone have a set of stock LS2 springs laying around? I'm putting together a set of Vortec heads for another project car and the LS6 style beehive spring is a good upgrade.
Greetings Squag27; Yes I have a set of used (43,000mi.) Ls-2 valve springs. Their value is near zero as used springs are near junk. When you consider that new ones can be had for under $100 & I've seen them for as little as $70, why not? My thoughts-question would be "are used springs worth the shipping costs"? Ole' Bob.
Thanks gents, I ended up finding a set of 60k springs from a member on one of the FB pages for shipping costs. Seems like a weird thing to be cheap about but the cam I have in the SBC in my El Camino is only .525" lift which is well within the range of stock LS6 style springs. Plus there are plenty of people rocking spare used beehive springs on Vortec setups like what I'm doing. I'm trying to do this as "budget" as possible being that I had an issue with the top end of the motor at pretty bad timing financially. Doing a cheap set of modified Vortec heads will get the car back on the road for a while longer, plus I still have to justify some of these poor financial decisions with my better half and I've already budgeted being over $5k deep in my GTO's motor over the next few months.
