A friend of a friend just got an 04 Cobra with 40,000 miles and wants to set up a race with me. The cobra is stock except for nitto 555r's in the back. I have raced and beat a few cobras in the past but they were either bone stock or very lightly modded (cold air intake, mufflers, ect) Needless to say I am a little worried about the DRs especially on that impressive of a car so what do you guys think my chances are? Taking into account that the cobra driver is new to the car and didnt seem to know how good those tires really are, (at least that is the impression i got from talking to him) and assuming that i launch perfectly and do not spin too bad lol. Cobra guys...give it to me straight lol.

if all you have is the intake flows and tune in your sig then im thinking the cobra. Im not a cobra guy but those things are pretty mean. Even with a bad driver those can run consistant high 12's low 13's. Make sure you go from a dig and if your real good at launching and hes excited and spins just keep beating him to like 70 then let off when you hear the whine coming lol.

Thats solid advice, especially letting off when i hear the whine lol, thanks guys.

I notice you have an A4. If you hook up, you should make the race interesting. My stock A4 ran 13.3 in the 1/4 mile and others have gone faster. So you should at the very least put up a good fight.

You definately need to race from a dig (or very low speed roll). If you guys do decide to do some roll races make sure your starting speed is up near 55-60mph (stay under 70mph).

Whatever you do don't race from an A4 weak zone (33-49mph) or
(70-85 mph). If you do, you'll make your car look slow.

A4 and the dig will be very interesting... even with DR he still has wheel hop like our cars do, so it won't be an end all mod on the streets... Do a dig and see what happens... Then post the vid that your planning on filming! =P

Thanks for the advice guys! I wish i had a camera so that i could post a vid but i dont lol. I have had good luck agaisnt the two termi cobras that i have ran in the past, both were stockish (CAI or mufflers) and both were from a digg with me coming out on top by a car or so but those DRs still have me worried. Win or lose it should prove to be exciting and fun, i will let y'all know how it goes when we finally get lined up.

Hmm that sounds fishy... 1- you normally don't find alot of "stock" cobras... 2- stock for stock, your not going to beat them unless there missing a driver mod.

But whatever, post up what happens.

It could go any way depending on the driver. However, if both of you drive the cars to their full potential I feel the Cobra will edge you out. Keep in mind, a stock Cobra is a 12 second capable car.

I managed to run a 12.77 @ 111 the day I bought my car, stock down to the tires, and many of done better with a stock Cobra. My 60 ft was a 1.9. If I had DR's I could have easily knocked 2 tenths off that 60 ft which would have brought my 1/4 down a good bit. Also, my car was not exactly broken in at the time (just over 100 miles on the odometer).

Anyways, that is if both drivers are driving the car to it's full potential. We all know anything can happen on the street, so race the guy and find out.

There are few cars i respect more than termi cobras so it will be a fun race no matter what the outcome is.

I had one bone stock, I've had a few charges at the drag strip experience wise and it did not impress me. The one I raced would not let me pull up beside him. The only thing I could do is stay on his ass, he gained no ground. He refused to run door to door so overall it would seem to me that SC should have pulled something but in this case this mustang did nothing, I knocked on his door the whole mile.
