Did the "muffler delete" yesterday...

Love the sound at idle, and while cruising...but man, get the revs up to around 4K and this thing sounds like a freakin' Nextel Cup car. I'm also not too fond of all the "popping" I'm getting on deceleration. But for $75, I figured that it was worth a try...I know that I can always add mufflers at a later date if/when I grow tired of the straight pipes and/or a LEO busts me for excessive noise.

Seems like the Flowmaster 40's seem to be the muffler of choice around here....any others to consider? I really can't see myself keeping the exhaust like this for too long.

Save money

Save your money. Put the stock mufflers back on and delete the resonator. It is burbly at idle and cruise, and really rocks when you get on it. It sounds like a realy 60's GTO, or as close as you can get with a chevy engine trying to sound like a long rod Pontiac engine.

I did it and really like it. Lots of compliments.:gears:

Straight pipes instead of the resonator or... ? You have any sound clips of that setup?
I already have Super 40's on, but once they finish breaking in, I might decide to change somethin' up just to have a new noise to listen to.

I have straight pipes instead of a resonator on my car. The exhaust note barely changed with the stock mufflers. I have heard plenty of cars with Super 40's and thought it just sounds too tame for me. I have deletes and no resonator now and yes it's VERY loud, but I love it.

Well, I broke down and ordered some SLP LMII mufflers yesterday...I will keep them in the closet until such time I decide I just can't live with the straight pipes anymore.

I do like the sound at idle and up to around 3500 rpm's...I just don't like all the popping and the feeling that I'm driving a Nextel Cup car once I get it over 4000 rpm's.

I'll drive it like it is for the month of August and then decide whether or not to install the mufflers.
