How long does a 10-15lb tank last ?

Ok one of the main reasons I have not got N20 is I am worried it just wont last very long. So lets say you have a 100-125 shot , how long does the juice last. I am talking about minutes/seconds worth of WOT. I don't want it if it will require filling every week.

Seeing as how I wont have funds to go FI anytime soon I keep going back and forth on this one.

Are you running a 100 shot ?

2 - 10lb bottles here. With heaters on both I can get 8-10 consistent runs on a 150 shot
before I start loosing pressure at the end of the track.. Closer to 12-14 runs on 100 shot.
So to answer your question 100 shot = about 6 10sec. blasts at 950psi. Will last longer with lower bottle pressure and via versa with higher pressure.

My buddy charges me $34 for my 10 lb bottle,

I get about 5-8 good passes on the 1/8th (ZEX 125 shot)

am prob getting the nano system so I actually use the full 10 lbs worth

Thats not to bad, Pros in mankato was charging I think $5.25 a pound. But now I have a friend with a fill station, I think he charges me about $2.75 a pound :drink:

I couldnt tell you how many quarter mile pulls I get, I usually end up out on the highways..If I had to guess with my 125 pills in Id say about 5 solid pulls. But I'm looking into getting a NANO system.

Ouch, so basically you get about $1 a second ? That seems like it could really add up if you like to use it much. I guess if you can just save it for the track or races it would be cheap to run. Otherwise I see 100/week 400/month 4800 a year possible which is what a decent FI setup would run. Even at half that rate it could add up VERY quickly. :bomb: Bummer, was hoping it lasted a bit longer then that.

I might be better off just getting a mid sized cam/headers/tune and be happy with a little less power, but always on power. I just dont think I could control myself enough with the N20.

i think this thread just changed my mind... i was thinking nitrous because it was cheap... but in the long run.. it adds up quick... ow well.. i still gotta do a lot of other things before i can add more power anyway
There is no way either one of you will go though a bottle a week for very long.. Honestly its really nothing to be playing around with on the street to often.
The Tq when you hit the nitrous is so great that you could very easily loose control of the car and crash..
Also you will prob. only run 6-7 lbs out of every bottle and they do not need to be empty to refill..
Realistically if you spray alot you will prob. go through 20 bottles a year at the most X 7lbs each time X 4.00 a lb =
$560.00 a year roughly.

I have a 50 lb C02 tank could I use that to refill? Maybe get better pricing on the N20 in bulk?

Im fairly sure thats what my buddy does...Wilson he lives in lafayette which would be a hike. But I think he works in Hutchinson, so im sure you could drop it off and pick it up later.

So from what I am understanding you cant use all the gas on a tank so maybe 6-7 1/4 mile runs on a 10lb tank with 100 shot ? Then you only have to pay for 6-7 lbs refill? I mean I guess that isn't terrible especially for how much power you can get from a simple 100 shot. Doesn't a 100 shot yield like 130-140 WTQ ?

If I can get a decent rate on N20 with a large tank like I have maybe this is still worth considering. Then a 10-15 lbs would be plenty and just pull up top my garage to refill it.

So let me rework my math to what seems reasonable. Possibly hit the juice maybe 5 times a week. Say at $3 lb. So possibly live with $60 a month $720 a year. At that rate it would take a good 4 years to reach the cost of a basic used turbo kit with a lot easier install and removal if needed for smog etc. Hmm time to start calling shops to what I can get the juice for.

On my old 125hp setup (different car - not a GTO) I saw about 80-100 seconds, but as others have said it was dependent on bottle pressure and as pressure fell so did performance. I always found myself wanting to NOT hit the button because I didn't want to "waste" the juice on something trivial...that definitely limited my enjoyment on the street (didn't stop me from putting it on two different motors though). For track only use I think it is great simply because you are in a more controlled world - you know when you are going to hit it and when you will let off and you will probably only get a few runs in on any given night, etc. It can also get old having to deal with bottle refills, etc. Having said all that...for the effort, little else will put as big a smile on your face.

N20 is fun, just like FI is fun.

Yes, N20 is cheaper in the beginning, and FI is expensive in the beginning.

It all comes down to what you want out of your car.

Personally, I love N20. Always have, always will.

Yes, I could save up and get a nice single turbo setup, but that's just not me.
